On the ACC preview show on ESPN, their first video of him talking in the locker room, he takes a nice shot at the Pitt fanbase.

"We may play in front of 20,000 people at Pitt on a Thursday night, but you know what, it counts as 1 and we gotta find a way to get the job done."

Sounds like a shot at the ACC schedule makers. He didn't have to say Thursday Night but he did.

-Considering Virginia Tech is 1-7 against Pitt since 2001, and we beat them multiple times when they were ranked in the Top 5 in the country, and they had a total of 100 yards of total offense against Pitt last year and will lose to Pitt this year, talk is cheap.

-We are also on the verge of cherry picking their best 2017 recruit, Tyjuan Garbutt, who not only decommited from Virginia Tech, not only is his high school coach pushing him to Pitt, he is visiting Pitt Sept. 10th for the Penn State game and all signs for now says Pitt gets him over Virginia Tech, Florida, and Georgia.

-Fuente can pound salt, this is a P5 league, not midmajor league status like he is used to playing in at that crap cheater Memphis school.

Sounds like the fact they 1-7 against Pitt and Garbutt my be picking Pitt over the Jokies are the specific reasons he chose to single out Pitt in that comment.

Maybe he feels Pitt is the team they have jump in the pecking order in the coastal. He knows if they can't beat Pitt then they will never accomplish what they think they should.

Great! I hope he keeps giving Pitt bulletin board material. Narduzzi knows how to use that stuff......

He says Pitt and October. He knows the opponent and date. It's a shot directed at Pitt, not the ACC. He didn't need to name a school if he wanted to leave it a general message for the ACC.

Smack from a first year coach with a rebuilding job on his hands. Tasty.

It's curious because they also play @Syracuse and @ Duke - two games that will likely not be heavily attended either.

It's not as if his playing or coaching career brought him in to contact with Pitt or Narduzzi in any significant way. But I love it all either way, I personally don't need to hear head coaches sitting around stroking each other.

What position does Garbutt play?

Very immature and disappointing coming from a coach entering his first year in the ACC. Looking forward to watching Conner/Ollison run though their team again.

He ain't lying though. Just go out and beat em.

He is absolutely lying. There will be at least 53k for that game. There would be more if VT wasn't such a mediocre program in the past few years.

F him. We are going to pound the hell out of them

-Virginia Tech is more than likely going to lose multiple recruits to us, Garbutt is just one of them, their best one. That of course assumes we get these players, but they are more than likely going to lose these players. He clearly was pissed off when Garbutt decommitted right after Garbutt was at the Pitt camp.

The first time I saw that locker room piece with Fuente I had to do a double take. I couldn't believe he said 20,000. I first thought he meant Pitt would have 20,000 students going crazy on a Thursday night. He was clearly taking a shot at us and our attendance record but seriously, it's a Thursday night game and we should have 45,000 to 50,000 in attendance

I hope you are right. I was at the last Thursday night game against them 2 years ago and the attendance was crap.

Even then, this comes across as petty and immature. Makes me think Narduzzi already has the upper hand on and off the field.

I read the title of the post and saw how many replies.

Right away...I knew someone was dissin' Pitt....and the whining / complaining from the posters is great entertainment on a rainy Sunday evening......

He's scared of Narduzzi. This is what happens. Like steel said we are about to go down there and nab a 4 star that he commited to him. He's getting desperate.

guy hasn stepped in Lane Stadium for his first game as a HC but he's desperate.

Thats rich.........

Why would he pick PITT, individually, to try and take a shot regarding attendance? My goodness, tell me VT is not turning to PSU's mantra of turning every conversation into jokes regarding attendance?

Steel-if we had every high level recruit you pencil in for Pitt in your posts, we'd be competing with Bama and OSU for national championships every year. Weren't you the guy who declared Robert Foster a Pitt lock every day right up until he put the Bama hat on at his presser?

Your ratio on these is like 1 in 30. "We're on the verge of landing several big time recruits." That simply isn't true, at least no more so than it is for the other top 5 schools on any of their short lists. Why do you do this?

You probably still think we're the frontrunners for Fred Hansard and Drew Singleton.

Amazingly, you seem to have a small cult following of mindless slappies that actually believe, or at least want to believe, that you're relaying some kind of accurate insider information.

-I dont think I was even posting on this board back when Foster committed. The recruits I am speaking of as of today.

Jeter
Garbutt
Munford
Heyward
Warren

-It just so happens

1) Jeter is announcing October 31st

2) Munford was again CB'd to Pitt today, not by me.

3) Heyward was again CB'd to Pitt today, not by me

4) Garbutt is well known to be a 2 horse race between Pitt and Virginia Tech, unless something major has changed

5) Warren is down to 4, and Ill bet the farm we make a final cut of 2, if there is one.

-Very good chance we get at least 3 of these 5, and maybe sweep all 5.

-That also doesnt include Twyman, who we are in the Top 3 for.

-Hansard is out. Odds are he doesnt qualify, either.

He's not lying, he's exaggerating. But his point is that our attendance is lackluster, and that's no lie.

I do think we will pound them-again. You can rest assured that Duzzi will use that disrespectful quote for game week, he learned how to turn lack of respect into motivation from the best at it -Dantonio. It would be nice to do it in front of a decent sized crowd. All those yellow seats look pretty bad on ESPN. We have a good coach. A good team, amd a motivated AD, so maybe we will start to see some improvement in attendance.

Perhaps Barnes should run with this, promote the hell out of that game and make sure Heinz is at max capacity that night.

-By the way, 4 of these players are rated a 4 Star by ESPN.com, and if you include Twyman, that's 5 four stars. Munford is unrated, because he has not been watched or rated, and was given an NR, or incomplete. Munford got his 4 star upgrade by scout.com less than 2 weeks ago. Munford will be a 4 star by everyone once the other services watch him.

-So we are talking about 5 four star recruits here and in up and riser with Connor Heyward at WR, who has a pretty impressive offer sheet. Twyman is ALSO a 4 star by ESPN, with offers from over half the SEC, including Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Penn State, Michigan State, South and North Carolina, among others.

-These are big time players

Fuente said what he said knowing he would have to play Pitt at Heinz this year. He will have his chance to stand by or eat his words. Hopefully this tactic generates some buzz and a nice turnout for the annual turkey roast :p.

Nothing wrong with building up a little animosity within the ACC Coastal;)
