Article from 247 on Pitt recruiting 2 weeks ago, not written by me.

"Pitt is the strong heavy leader for Jeter"

"Pitt is the leader for Munford"

"Pitt is in big time pursuit for Garbutt and Twyman"

"Pitt will certainly add a player like Heyward"

"Pitt is in strong contention for Warren, Becton"

"Pitt would love to add Proctor and Wade" - 2 players I didnt even mention

Steel, can you talk about all the big timers we have currently?

It's just not Fuente, it's how a lot of coaches recruit against us. We have to win more and we need to play better schedules. When we get big games, come through in the clutch....especially home games.

-Pitt's football class is ranked 42nd in the country in the current composite rankings, in August.

-This class will vault up if we land 3 or more of the players I just mentioned, NOT including Wade or Proctor or anyone else, just the 5 players I mentioned we are in good shape to get.

-I dont judge a 14 man class. Ill judge the class when it is complete.

-I already said you need approx. 4 or 5 four star players and the rest 3 star to get a Top 25 class in the country. We are on pace to beat that right now with ease, and that does not include Chris Clark, a former 4/5 star.

Pitt is in big time pursuit of....

Pitt will "certainly add a player like"....

Pitt is in strong contention for...

Pitt would love to add...

I'll give you one chance to tell me what's wrong with reading those statements to mean that we actually lead, or are in the top 2 , for the players that are named in these 4 statements.

Outside of Jeter and Mumford, all any of that means is that we're recruiting them aggressively. Not even close to meaning that any of those players are "on the verge" of committing to Pitt.

-I linked one article, I dont need to link everything to prove what I write

-Vuk has also spoken to each of these players over the phone and said he predicts Garbutt to Pitt, tweet him or email him

-Garbutt decommited from Virgina Tech 1 day after attending Pitt camp and is now visiting Pitt in the next 12 days. That's all you need to know.

-But since you asked, here are your latest crystal ball predictions

https://pitt.247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/TargetPredictions

-3 of those players CB'd to Pitt in the last 24 hours. Thank You very much

It's just a bizarre statement from Fuente. Guarantee this isn't because Pitt has owned VA Tech in previous years before he got there, or that they're in competition for a recruit or 2. You'd think he'd bang on the train wreck that's his big rival in Virginia.

A very odd thing for him to do, it's like Narduzzi coming in and immediately ripping on NC St, makes no sense at all.

IMO, he made the statement to his team as a reminder that they have more talent than Pitt and they are the reason they lose because they don't get up for games. That when you play a "pitt" in front of 20k fans on a Thursday night, you gotta rise up, come together and win.

It's a total slap in the face to the Pitt team, fans and program in general. F them, Pitt is gonna stomp their sorry asses again...whether it be in front of 1 fan or 65k. Don't think Fuente didn't know a camera was there filming.

You wrote that those 5 players are "on the verge" of committing to Pitt. None of those links prove that to be true.

All of them have more visits coming to other programs. Those crystal ball predictions change week to week, and end up being wrong all the time. It's what, 7 months to LOI day?

You talk about judging the class we end up with versus what we have right now, while at the same time counting players we don't have amd may never get as though they'll be Panthers on LOI day. I'll judge the class on the players we actually get, as opposed to the ones we have a chance to get. Like last year, we will probably miss on some of the sure things and hit on some good players we haven't heard anything about yet.

-Actually I said Pitt is on the verge of landing multiple big time targets, in those exact words, starting with Donovan Jeter, a 4 star DT with over 30 offers from every power program in the country, who is set to verbal in 60 days.

-I also clearly said we should get 3 of the 5 players I listed, if not more.

-I also used 3 different websites along with a Pittsburgh sports website source, to support which teams appear as the leader to get a certain recruit

-You have no business following recruiting the way you speak. Come back around on LOI day since you choose not to follow anyone's take, whether mine or someone that runs a recruiting websites word for it.

I don't know why anyone would get upset over this? This is a very sincere compliment.

It means that for the first time in a long time, people are actually thinking about us in the preseason.

Sure, it was snarky and it was absolutely strange. We've never crossed paths with that dude.

However, we DESPERATELY need conference rivals to sell tickets and raise interest locally. A big part of that equation is becoming good enough that other programs start to both notice and resent you.

If Pitt and Virginia Tech start playing in a bunch of meaningful games, and this guy wants to turn this into a more heated rivalry, we should embrace that opportunity with both arms because we would benefit from it immensely.

If you think about it, Virginia Tech is by far the most logical candidate to become our fiercest ACC rival. Who else is likely to fill that role? Virginia? Miami? Syracuse? We don't have a lot to choose from and the Hokies are as good a choice as anyone else.

I love that he got shitty with us. Now, we need to go out there and kick his ass – whether it's in front of 20 people, 20,000 people, or 48,000 people makes absolutely no difference to me whatsoever.

It's especially odd considering he came from Memphis, who makes us look like Michigan when it comes to football attendance.

I was thinking the same thing. He had about 5k at a Thursday night game in Memphis a few years back.

On the ACC preview show on ESPN, their first video of him talking in the locker room, he takes a nice shot at the Pitt fanbase.

"We may play in front of 20,000 people at Pitt on a Thursday night, but you know what, it counts as 1 and we gotta find a way to get the job done."
I saw that. We'll see how that one plays out.

Sounds like a shot at the ACC schedule makers. He didn't have to say Thursday Night but he did.
What he was saying was Pitt will only have 20,000 fans at a Thursday night game so the players have to find a way to motivate themselves in a quiet atmosphere. We'll have to see about that.

They were on the verge of becoming our "rival".....then the ACC raided the BE.

-Reported today. Pitt is the runaway leader for Raines, arguably the best player in PA and one of the best players in the entire 2018 class, and its only a matter of time before he commits. Obviously huge news as we were in good shape before. Massive talent.

Funny....the one game that did cataract big attendance at Heinz even dating back to Walt Harris was VT, and Pitt beat them often after moving to Heinz going 6-1 since 2001?

They don't have more talent than Pitt- if that's his angle, he's a bonehead.

Really hope we have a strong start to the season so everyone come out in full force and watches a nationally ranked Pitt team take down the Hokies
