Game over. Coach is going to really regret this.

Suck what? you agree with the decision to punt on 4th and inches?

I'm used to not connecting on 4th and 15. I've been a Pitt fan too long. haha.

We need this call to go our way on the replay review.

Usually when you ice the kicker, it ends up biting you in the ass. But that's not the wrong move.

He'll be haunted by not going for it on 4th and 6 inches from the Iowa 40. The game was lost in that instant.

Icing the kicker is always the wrong move when you wait that long. Neither coaching decision lost the game, but a kicker getting a practice kick in helps just about every time.
We lost because they kicked a 57 yard field goal as the clock expired. That had more to do with their kicker than anything else.

Coaching is bad. and im not the type to blame coaches, but that's who is killing the team. And this is not the first mistakes he has made nor am i just saying this. Go back to my last posts and you will see i was not happy with the coaching from the first game. I highlighted the series after the 4th and four stop against YSU and the bad offensive (and it was in more ways then one) play calling.

I'll admit I'm not impressed at all with Chaney's playcalling. But the coaching staff has more to do with the good this season than Iowa scoring 3 more points than us.

He should have gone for it, absolutely. No way in hell was the game "lost in that instant." How can you even say that?

Do any of us know for sure that maybe Narduzzi didn't say to check the defense first? A lot of times you'll see a team line up and try to draw the other team offsides. If they don't, they call a timeout and punt. Maybe that was the call, but instead of wasting a timeout we took the penalty so we had more room to punt.
Iowa had the line stacked, and Pitt motioned everyone out of the backfield. Also, Narduzzi was saying something to Rowell and Chaney both after the play. I could be totally wrong, but there's a reason Narduzzi coaches college football for a living, and we don't.

In the postgame, Narduzzi said the plan was to punt all along. It was just an attempt to draw them offsides.

But hopefully it is a learning moment and he doesn't make that mistake next time he's in that situation.

Yes, I did read that now. Actually read that he said he thought an Iowa D-Lineman jumped early. Maybe that is what he was yelling about after. Just watching the play live, I didn't really notice, but even a flinch in that situation and any coach will ask for it to be called.
Makes sense now why Narduzzi was pumping everyone up. At first, I was confused why you would get everyone pumped up on the road. More crowd noise seemed like it would hurt 4th and inches on the road, but I love his energy. I still don't hate the call, but I would've rather seen them go for it. Easy to say in hindsight though, a punt inside the 10 yard line and this probably never gets mentioned.
