Interesting stats, both teams hit 17 FGs and 7 threes, Pitt shot 59% from the field, ND 57%. Pitt outrebounds ND by 10.
Let's be honest here too..pitt didn't play awful defense...Jackson was hitting really tough threes.
By the way, has anyone seen James Robinson?Yeah, we aren't leaving shooters wide open by any means.
Notre Dame shot 56.7% from the floor, 53.8% from three. We have not forced even one turnover yet. The notion that what we just saw from Pitt was anything other than awful defense is laughable.
Oh stop it. You're being ridiculous.
Yeah, we aren't leaving shooters wide open by any means.
Everyone in the Universe knows ND lives and dies by the 3----but we still can't defend themAnd by the way, if we exclude Jackson Notre Dame shot 57.1% from the field and 50% from three. And still didn't commit even one turnover.
It's not all just Jackson, not by a long shot.
Agreed.ND is very tough to beat at home. I am happy we are up 6.
I think the answer is clear. Time for Dixon to bust out the amoeba defense.
A good percentage of that 53.8% were from 5 feet beyond the arc or with a hand in their face. Can't do anything about that.
Personally I think that is the most annoying thing on Earth to see. Guys chucking up shots they should be getting benched for taking, and making those shots. Don't care how you look at it, that is not good basketball.
Hahaha. Fine? Don't want to make this a personal issue with you, I enjoy your posts. But before the Maia reach in, Notre Dame's defender on the other end completely wrapped his arms around J-Rob. Not a single person on Earth can seriously say that was not a foul. It was as obvious as a foul will ever be.Officiating was fine... and not even close to being an issue in the first half.
Typical happy comment,Dixon might have cost this team the game by leaving Young out there to get his third foul.
The calls on young, at least two of them were awful. Robinson got tackled when he drove the lane the one time and no call. The ref in the backcourt called a foul on ANO under the hoop when the ref right by the play didn't.
They were horrific.
Agree. That is now our strength and our best chance of competing in the ACC.Embrace the up-tempo offensive games.
Artis and Young were in fire and shooting a lot. Would you rather James just hoist some threes, just to get some points? What a silly post. We scored 49, how much should we have scored? 60?By the way, has anyone seen James Robinson?

You're nuts. The non-call on Robinson was the bad one. On Young's last foul he reached in and hit the guy on the arm. That's a foul all day, every day. He got called for a foul against Auguste when he was shooting that if it happened on the other end and we didn't get the call we'd be screaming about for the rest of the day. I notice you also didn't mention the shooting foul that we got when Jeter was attempting to tip in a rebound. That gets called a shooting foul pretty much never, and yet we got two foul shots out of it today.
Take off the blue and gold glasses.
That certainly was a shooting foul on Jeterr. he was trying to dunk.
But I will agree at least 2 of the Mike Young fouls were the correct calls.
You are correct. But when Jeter went to tip it in, he was clearly slapped on the wrist. In that situation you have to call that.He was trying to tip in a rebound. That almost never gets called a shooting foul, it almost always gets called a foul on the rebound.
Yeah. Didn't like that one, but couldn't really tell for sure. And the third one was the offensive foul when they were using the goofy corner end zone camera angle and there is no way you can say if Young hooked the guy or not based on what we actually saw.

I think Dixon is too conservative in playing guys with 2 fouls. Maybe Young scores 6 points in the last two minutes and we go up by 12. I don't really believe in saving players...I mean, Mike could get his 3rd foul 10 seconds into the second half.
I think you have to trust Mike there to play 2 minutes without fouling, and Mike just had a brain fart and fouled over the back on an offensive rebound.
There was 1:07 to play in the 1st half when Young got his 2nd foul and there was a stoppage in play ..... he should have been taken out ..... mistake by Jamie.
I was surprised that Young was still there. He got his second foul with 1:07 left. It would've been alright to have him sit the final 1:07.
The good news is that Jeter is one helluva replacement and played good down the stretch.
