No.Are ACC teams eligible for the College Basketball Crown tourney in Vegas? It’s run by Fox Sports and Big East and Big Ten schools get auto bids. If you aren’t going to make the NCAAs at least go to Vegas where it will feel more like an event.

So you are saying is we miss the NCAA we should pout like big babies again. Why? It no longer translates with the portal and NIL. Save the money and pay kids.
How many teams DON'T make the NCAAs? The NIT is relevant to pretty good teams that don't get picked for the Dance.I dont know but I wished people would stop bringing up the NIT. Most Pitt players will be in the portal. There's no chance we enter. The NIT is now dead anyway as the BE, B10, and B12 have their own tournament.

How is this for a SMFism. No good ones. The BE, B10, and B12 have their own tournament. The SEC is getting 14 teams in the NCAAT and 0 in the NIT. So Pitt could very well be the only P5 team. 0.00000% chance we accept. The NIT is now the old CBI.

Being miserable and a contrarian every waking moment of a meaningless life = sillyEh, you could argue that the last few teams that make the NCAAT aren't even that good.
That said, the NCAAT has always been about drama over merit.
Allowing 68 teams to compete for a championship = silly
A single elimination postseason in basketball = silly
Not reseeding after each round = silly
All the mid-major conference champions that make it over much better teams = silly
But people can fill out brackets and enjoy upsets, so it will continue on as is and/or only get sillier.
I'd argue drama makes for better entertainment, so as a college basketball fan, I want them to keep it as-is.Eh, you could argue that the last few teams that make the NCAAT aren't even that good.

It is better to lose in the play-in round rather than win the NIT.Making NCAAT is a long shot. Might be better for confidence building, etc. to make a 2 or 3 game run in NIT. UVA did that the year prior to its miracle run.

Another thing going against the NIT is that old school coaches like Bobby Knight, Boeheim, Roy Williams, etc are no longer around to talk about the glory days of the NIT Tournament and talk up the importance of playing in it. It really is dead.No good ones. The BE, B10, and B12 have their own tournament. The SEC is getting 14 teams in the NCAAT and 0 in the NIT. I'd sign up for that right now. The current system isn't "fair"Oh it definitely makes it more entertaining when every game is do or die, when there are static brackets you can fill out beforehand, and when you let a bunch of potential Cinderellas in. No argument at all.
Just not sure how fair it is. Imagine if the Pirates, after sucking for the better part of six months, got hot for four days and won a tournament that allowed them to get into the playoffs, and then Paul Skenes pitched in a single-elimination game against the Dodgers.

As a Pirates fan, I'd be all for that, too, even though single elimination baseball has been a mixed bag for the Buccos this century.I'd sign up for that right now. The current system isn't "fair"
If they would accept it, it might be a tell about Jaland going in the draft.NIT is dead. Make NCAAT or build for next year.

Too funny. With the 3,277,392nd pick in the WWIII Draft, the United States Army selects... Jaland Lowe, point guard from the University of Pittsburgh.
"I think the Army got a steal with this selection. Take a look at his ability to beeline directly into enemy forces and attract significant attention. He might fit in nicely as a Berserker and/or diversion catalyst at the next level. He's also paper thin, which can make for a significantly smaller target than what you typically see available at this point in the draft. Now, there will be a learning curve. For instance, if a fellow battalion member is famished in the middle of a desert and in dire need of water, it's unlikely that Jalan would pass him the canteen. But we think that can be coached out of him."
How is this for a SMFism.
Since the conference tourneys mean nothing anymore…the post season ACC tournament should be for all the ACC teams that don’t make the NCAA. (Think UEFA Europa League). Then when ACC teams that make the NCAA tourney lose (like Champions league teams who don’t advance out of group play) , slot them into the ACC bracket at the later rounds.
You can call it silly all you want but I’ll take the 1st Thursday and Friday of the tournament over just about any other options. But I’ve been going to Vegas for that 1st week of the tournament for years now and am swayed by the added atmosphere and excitement it adds to those 1st couple daysEh, you could argue that the last few teams that make the NCAAT aren't even that good.

Great ideas, but would award automatic NCAAT bids to NIT final four.Conference tournaments are big moneymakers so they aren't going away. The solution is very simple:
1. Don't open the transfer portal until after the Elite 8.
2. Award the NIT Champion (and NCAAT Champion) and auto NCAAT bid for next season.
Teams would choose to play in the NIT.
