“We look forward to coach Gavin leading our program to another ACC championship as well as continued success on the national stage.” At Pitt, Gavin won the 174-pound national championship in 2008. He won 120 career matches, eighth-best in program history. Gavin is a two-time Eastern Wrestling League champion, two-time EWL Wrestler of the Year and a member of the EWL Hall of Fame.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to come back to the University of Pittsburgh as the head wrestling coach,” Gavin said in a statement. “I would like to thank Heather Lyke, Marcus Bowman (senior associate athletic director) and everyone on the search committee for believing in my ability to lead this program. I am eager to get to work.”

Before embarking on his coaching career, Gavin was successful as a wrestler on national and international stages. He was a member of the U.S. national team for more than six years, placing third at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials before winning the U.S. National Championship in 2013 and 2014. He also was runner-up at the 2010 and 2014 U.S. World Team Trials and the 2011 Pan-American Games and finished third in the 2011 World Team Trials.

Yeah, follows in Chancellor Gallagher, Caoch Narduzzi and Heather Lyke Vice and carries a Cashet so much better than Pederson and Howland's Fraudlent Comments and Later Failures at Nebraska and UCLA and Barnes can join them with Graham & Chryst all that used Pitt as Stepping Stones?

Barry Alavrez, Jackie Sherrill, John Capilari, and Sean Miller all wanted the Pitt Head Coaching Job to come to Pitt too, just like Dave Wannstedt, but Pederson Anti-Pitt Bias and chose Consultants that kept letting Pitt Recruits, Players, Alumni, Students and Fans down.

Good to see Pitt not afraid to select Pitt Alumni again with far better Minds than Pederson, Howland, or Barnes clearly lacked in smarts and character!

Better than Pederson's Haywood, Graham and Chryst and so far Barnes Stallings, but the jury still out?

Calipari and Miller were available once too, worked out fine at Kentucky, Xaiver and Arizona too. Not so much for Howland at UCLA and at Missy State right now won't allow a 4 Star Transfer out?

No so much for Majors at UTenn or Second Tenure at Pitt, or A&M & Missy State for Sherrill, and Wannstedt did better than Walt, Todd and Paul!

Pitt did produce great Coaches in the NFL and still does! Foge was great as an DC & Assistant, some coaches don't work out as Head Coaches like Foge.

Certainly, Graham going 6-7 with Chryst 19-20 and Haywood given Pitt Money to settle his Lawsuit by Pederson for hiring him for the only beating and choking was his Child's Mother was not exactly Pitt Money well spent was it? Did not produce one game win or any wining records like that not to mention the horrible Media Head Lines for Pitt was it?

Pitt going with one of its own like Gavin remains to be seen if that works out too in Wrestling! But God Forbid Russ Grimm, Sal Sunseri, Teryl Austin, or Tommy Campbell be considered for any Pitt Job?

Pederson name is still hated by Nebraska and that was his Alma Mater, and not well remembered by Pitt Fans....your choir sings a bit low and slow if that is choosing leaving the Barnes Door wide open until we see a Pre-Fired Stallings Pitt Post-Consultant-Hired too?
