The Steeler way has become 500 football and inmates running the asylum. The Steeler way which was once proud physical football and some smashmouth defense has become an anachronism. Nobody wins in this league anymore with that philosophy. Creative offense and explosive players coupled with a competent defense is the way of today. Kenny went from a team playing in the dark ages to a team playing Renaissance football. Kenny saw it first hand. You can win it all with guys like Hurts and Barkley and a defense built full of high draft picks that can play. Najee Harris and Russ Wilson and a bunch of bad defenders won't get it done. Most of all, a competent staff practices hard and prepares you with great gameplans. The Steelers staff, starting with the head man, is a joke!

Jesus......I mean it is about time folks are figuring out the Steelers. You saw the PG article yesterday about Wilson and Art Smith.......Starkey just friggin torches Mike Tomlin today as the main issue. Which I say he is second to the main because Art II should have fired him 2 years ago for drafting a QB in rd 1 and not having any plans for him.

Isn’t that supposed to be an advantage with seen-everything guys like Ben Roethlisberger and Russell Wilson?

This is a Tomlin issue because the offensive coordinators in question are mere subordinates. He’s the boss. It’s his philosophical guidelines under which the coordinators operate — and maybe under which the entire organization operates.

Tomlin doesn’t just play co-CEO to team president Art Rooney II. He’s also the de facto defensive coordinator, the governing voice on draft picks, the Steelers’ lead man at the Senior Bowl, etc.
As ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently put it, Tomlin is “the most prominent voice in that organization.” And we’re going to blame Arthur Smith or Matt Canada for handcuffing their quarterbacks? Please.
One more for the road: “Wilson’s desire to attack with the pass and throw down the field clashed with Smith’s run-first mentality.”

Really? We’re gonna go with Smith’s run-first mentality?

Tomlin seems to want to win by playing 1974 football. And he doesn’t update often, on either side of the ball. It’s the old Steelers stability thing, I guess, and it’s good enough to beat the chaotic teams, of which there are plenty. But when the competition kicks up a notch, like in the playoffs, the Steelers get grotesquely out-coached.

So where did the story come from? I'm guessing Russ because he wanted to make it known that he sucked because of restrictions not because he just sucks.

That is an interesting conclusion you made from reading my post when I clearly stated that with players like Hurts and Barkley you can win it all. The Eagles are a run first team, but, they have 2 really good receivers and an offense that is creative, and the qb is involved in the run game. I think you are knit picking me here. They are in the Superbowl, so of course they have a chance. The Eagles are not 3 yards and a cloud of dust team! If your suggesting that, you are misled. Plus, they have drafted well and addressed their secondary such that it is no longer a weakness. Anyway, I'm not sure where you were going here. The Eagles aren't handing off to Najee or the Bus. I believe I mentioned the need for explosive players. Barkley fits the bill there. That said, you need creativity. Having Hurts who also can hurt you with his feet makes Barkley even better.

The women in that industry don’t get respect sometimes. It’s deplorable how those journalists look down their nose at Adidi all the time…and how Tomlin seems to have it out for Brooke Pryor, who also does a good job.

Then again…guys like Tim Benz get picked on too. So maybe it’s just people in general.
