Excerpts:

Pat Narduzzi called Pitt's 43-42 victory over No. 2 Clemson Saturday “a statement win for the program, for the university.” It was a signature win for Narduzzi, one whose significance the second-year coach quantified with technology. “Based on my phone blowing up,” he said, “it was bigger than the Penn State win.” I'll go a step further: It was bigger than Penn State's 24-21 victory over No. 2 Ohio State, as the Panthers ended the nation's longest home win streak at 21 games at Death Valley while the Nittany Lions won at home in Happy Valley. And it has the promise to be even bigger than Pitt's 13-9 victory at No. 2 West Virginia in 2007, which knocked the Mountaineers out of the BCS Championship Game................
......................
“We're always going to shoot high,” Narduzzi said of setting goals, “but we've still got a long way to go.” With the Clemson win, Pitt became bowl-eligible. If the Panthers can beat Duke Saturday and Syracuse in the season finale, they could finish in the national rankings, which would do wonders for recruiting. Rivals.com national recruiting director Mike Farrell called Narduzzi “an infectiously passionate recruiter who gets after it on the trail,” and predicted that Pitt “will capitalize on this national upset.” And the very reason for Farrell's faith in Narduzzi is the same one that drew the Pitt coach criticism for his sideline antics against Virginia Tech....................
Whatever it was, Narduzzi possibly won over potential recruits. Prospects saw both a poignant moment and a passionate one from a coach who knelt down and interlocked arms with his players to watch Blewitt kick the game-winning 48-yard field goal with six seconds remaining. “He showed exactly what a players' coach does when kids are down,” Farrell said. “That moment on TV, when he made Chris Blewitt smile with a kiss on the cheek after the extra point, resonates with me as a guy who covers recruiting and knows what kids look for in coaches. It showed how much he supports his players, how much he believes in him and his faith and lifting up Blewitt at that point was rewarded with the big kick. That might seem like a silly moment or even comment, but, trust me, kids notice all sorts of things when watching games and coaches.”..............
..............
Pitt quarterback Nathan Peterman said this sideline show proved that Narduzzi is genuine. “Those things on the sideline aren't fake,” Peterman said. “They're not just something that happens on Saturdays, that he wants to show when the cameras are on him, that he's a players' coach. He's all about football and about his players — and that's what makes him a great guy and the kind of guy you want to play for..............
