We got our tickets yesterday now I have some travel/hotel questions for anyone that can help. We are from Northern PA and will be entering NJ on I-80. We would like to hit up a train somewhere in Jersey near I-80 and train into the city. Suggestions? Also looking for hotel suggestions that will make getting to and from the game relatively simple. Thanks,

You could also check out Mikemat's thread on here about a bus trip from the Pittsburgh area...

The Netcong Station of NJ Transit is right off of I80. From there, you can catch a direct train right to Penn Station in Manhattan.

I want to avoid the GW bridge traffic and I think I found a decent alternative. I'll be taking the Tappan Zee bridge and parking at one of the Metro North stations and taking the train down to Yankee Stadium. The driving time to the Tarrytown train station is the same as Yankee Stadium + the 45 minute metro ride. Just an option for those like me who don't want to deal with points south. Good option especially if coming from northern PA.

I always drive to Staten Island, park at the Staten Island Ferry and take that to lower Manhattan. Parking isn't as expensive as you might think and the Ferry is free. They just built a parking garage next to the Ferry and Yankees minor league baseball stadium that I believe is now open.

If your plan is ONLY to go to the game and not see touristy NYC/Manhattan, then yes, your way is probably the best. Find a park and ride in Westchester Co. and you're set.
