Former Temple Coach. He seems like a good hire. It will be interesting to see how things go with them moving away from the option.

I would be shocked if they did not struggle next year. Their QB was an awful passer in the game we played against them. They will also have to recruit OL with a different skill set.My prediction for GT: pain.
The option was the only competitive advantage they had.

I agree, programs like theirs (and ours) benefit from having some niche that opponents rarely see and can't easily prep for in one week. It's why i was particularly goosed by our offense in the 2016 season and bummed when it ended so abruptly. We (and GT) rarely going to have great talent at every position to be able to dominate teams with things they see from everyone else each week. It's a big reason we've struggled against most really legit teams the past two years. We'll see i guess. My prediction for GT: pain.

It's not so much a skill set as it is he size to play a straight up offense.
The option wasn't an advantage. Johnson didn't produce any better than others have at GT. They should be better than they are based on their recruiting footprint.
Great hire. Atlanta guy, coached there before (twice), actually won at Temple. .
Chan Gailey had 1 season where he won more that games (8).
Johnson had 5 seasons where he won more than 7.
Johnson won 4 division titles. Gailey and O'Leary won 1 a piece.
