Former Temple Coach. He seems like a good hire. It will be interesting to see how things go with them moving away from the option.

My prediction for GT: pain.

The option was the only competitive advantage they had.
I would be shocked if they did not struggle next year. Their QB was an awful passer in the game we played against them. They will also have to recruit OL with a different skill set.

I agree, programs like theirs (and ours) benefit from having some niche that opponents rarely see and can't easily prep for in one week. It's why i was particularly goosed by our offense in the 2016 season and bummed when it ended so abruptly. We (and GT) rarely going to have great talent at every position to be able to dominate teams with things they see from everyone else each week. It's a big reason we've struggled against most really legit teams the past two years. We'll see i guess.

Perhaps why they hired Collins, who is used to playing guys who are undersized, etc. against P5 competition. In the meantime, he will be recruiting actual P5 offensive players. Seems like a good bridge hire to me.

Great hire. Atlanta guy, coached there before (twice), actually won at Temple. It will a while to turn over the roster from the triple option to the 21st century, but once it does, they could be dangerous.

The option wasn't an advantage. Johnson didn't produce any better than others have at GT. They should be better than they are based on their recruiting footprint.

Chan Gailey had 1 season where he won more that games (8).

Johnson had 5 seasons where he won more than 7.

Johnson won 4 division titles. Gailey and O'Leary won 1 a piece.

This may be one of the worst jobs of cherry picking information. You do realize there were more games being scheduled when Johnson coached right?

O'Leary didn't have Coastal divisions to win and coached 7 seasons. Gailey had a Coastal to win in 3 of his 6 seasons. Johnson coached 11 seasons with the ACC split into to 2 divisions.

Johnson won 59% of his conference games. O'Leary won 62%. Gailey won 58% and he wasn't a very good HC.
