Has the Republican Party evolved into fascism?

The thing is, almost all of these TV people are highly intelligent. And, almost all politicians are highly intelligent. Not all, but most. So I hate when people say such and such TV commentator or politician are very stupid. Uh, no. You just disagree with their politics. People cannot seem to fathom that someone can be highly intelligent AND have a different worldview. In most cases, it is because THAT person is actually very stupid themselves (NCPitt for example).
The good thing about growing up is that most people actually learn a few things and get smarter. As they do, they shed their lib tendencies and become more moderate to conservative. They learn that what they were being told by the media and their teachers and online was all a bunch of lies. Not all people grow older and wiser. But many do, and they gravitate more to the center and right.

This thread and the posters here on the left are evidence that not all people grow smarter as they grow older.
Yep, and with all the avenues for information nowadays, the left absolutely has lost its stranglehold on media and influence. Just in time too.

That's great that you are able to listen to this and try and have a discussion with him. The posts of his that I saw demonstrated to me that he clearly doesn't know the difference between right and wrong, just basic stuff. He's just not worth my time. That's why he and a few others are on Ignore. Reading their posts is a waste of time.

Frankly, I'm not as young as I used to be and I don't have time to waste on garbage like that. The only thing I can say about Butler Pitt Guy is I pity him and feel very sorry for him.
I get ya. I'm about at that age too but I'm kinda involved in a group doing aplogetics, so I remain engaged. I guess I'm wondering why folks are arguing with him if they don't want to convince him.

I'm happy to trash talk with lefties, but I try to keep in mind that they think they are fighting the good fight, and that this is all spiritual warfare. I'd have a beer with many of the liberals here... when politics are set aside.

Have you seen the NYT arrow map from the election? The Gop dominated it.

election-maps-1478682433327-videoSixteenByNineJumbo1600.png

"Each red arrow represents a U.S. county where Republicans gained ground in the 2024 election compared to the 2020 election, and the arrows’ lengths correlate to the magnitude of those gains. Overall, the map concisely illustrates an overwhelming nationwide shift to the right—literally and figuratively."
That’s interesting but if Kamala had shifted just a bit over a quarter million votes in a handful of states she takes the electoral college.

AOC is highly intelligent. BU grad. Lauren Boebert is a moron. Probably 850 on SAT's. Maxine Watters Probably also an idiot. I doubt Tuberville is very smart but Senators are a higher class. You aren't going to find any stupid senators. US Reps though, good Lord, there's some folks in there with below average intelligence because all it takes is to win a primary in some districts.

I think this works in Trump's favor and it's part of why he is so popular. Think about the people who you hear speak publicly:

News commentators
Politicians
Athletes
Coaches

Athletes and coaches you write off because what they are saying isn't that important and you aren't expecting them to be great oratory. But news folks and politicians, you do....and they generally are and it's mostly because they are highly educated. So along comes Trump, who isn't a complete moron but only possesses average intelligence (probably 950-1000 on SATs) so he just sounds so different. Not even in what he is saying but how he says it. He sounds like the everyman with that limited vocabulary. He sounds authentic and it's not an act. He genuinely isn't very smart. I know Dems are flabbergasted that uneducated rural voters relate to a NYC draft-dodging billionaire but its the limited vocabulary, its the inability to string sentences together. He comes across as a normal dude. Then you add in the racism and xenophobia and you have a political powerhouse that the world has never seen.
Very few news commentators are highly educated. They get a J degree and move on.

How can you say the Republicans are clearly the slime when the DNC of the past ten years has been so ruthless that organized crime would blush?
"when the DNC of the past ten years has been so ruthless that organized crime would blush?" Give me examples with the source.

I only mention the dressed like rabbits and cats thing to illustrate that yes kids are falling prey to a wide assortment of predatory stuff thanks to social media. While not having the data in front of me, I would suspect that the whole trans thing escalated after covid and is more of a socially engineered condition. Same with secularism.

As far as deviance, yes plenty of straight people are sexual deviants too. But it’s widespread in the gay community (bath houses and tea rooms). Let’s face it, men can be pigs and gay men are simply an extension of that. But being gay and lesbian is one thing, but their cause has been hijacked by the extreme deviants that want to push their freak fetishes into the mainstream and to our children when they should be left in the bedroom…Or bathroom stall.
You're referencing that because you believe, like the right wing media propaganda apparatus has beat this drum since Covid, Obama's birth certificate, the ACA, Death Panels, and every other thing right wing fixates on to scare/outrage you, is the newest scare tactic. Between .5 and 1% of Americans identify as trans yet if you follow right wing media, it's an epidemic. The Dem's and left took the bait, IMO, and here we are.

I just want to hear your definition of what "sexual deviance" means. You mention straight and gays but I'd curious how you define this. Since it was that long ago that being a homosexual was criminalized and consider both sexual deviancy and a mental illness.

I'll do the same. I at the very least hope your mind will open to at least consider different perspectives may be right.
My mind is open and I read views from every perspective. My experiences and logic tell me that my perspective is the right one. Maybe it is you who should open his mind.

I'm putting a few of the worst offensive and ignorant posters on Ignore. I don't mind exchanging views and even some barbs with people on the left as it can be fun. But with people like this Butler guy who doesn't know the difference between right and wrong, it's just impossible to have an intelligent, civil discussion. I have no time for that silly nonsense that is meaningless. He's irrelevant.
Run and hide little snowflake.

At least I'll be praying to a living God who can perform miracles. I have no idea who you pray to as an atheist.

Praying can be completely secular and doesn't need to be to a "god/gods or supernatural". Here is my question to you as I posed to the other person I am talking with on here-is it possible that part/some/all of your world view, belief in god, etc, is incorrect? And if it was, how would you know?

When I first realized that by filing a praecipe with the court during a legal proceeding one was "praying the court" to do something, I finally saw the big picture. 😲

I had a Philosophy professor at Pitt who was an atheist. I had some good debates with him about the existence of God and about the universe in general. By the time the course was over, he was starting to believe I was right.

I'm also a believer that this universe is not the only universe that exists. This is a huge multiverse. It didn't just happen out of nothing. But that's another discussion in quantum physics.

Of course it is possible re God. That's why it is called "faith".

Same question to you. Is it possible that God exists and your lack of faith in Jesus Christ will doom you to hell for eternity?

Re the rest of my worldview, I am 99.9% certain that it is not wrong based on the real world and my experiences, just as I already said.

Think a couple of our posters can be spotted in this clip.

Gotcha and yes of course it's possible that a God/gods exist and that a all-powerful, knowledgeable, and loving God will send me to hell for eternal damnation for the simple fact of not believing in him/it. But given what I've experienced/thought about/read, I'd say that probably is pretty low. Imagine if you and I were born in India, our world view would be pretty different as would this conversation.

As far as certainty, 99.9% is pretty certain and I'd put my certainty around 75-80%. I am always open to changing as more information/evidence comes in. I mean this not sarcastically at all, I hope you would feel that way as well.

I am always open to changing many things when information presents itself. I am not as open when it comes to basic principles.

The belief that there is a supreme being, a God, is universal under different religions. But faith is reserved for those who don't need proof in a physical sense, as in the realms of chemistry, physics, biology, math. They believe in God not because of fear, but because they believe in a forever consciousness, a soul that was created by some force. That would be God. That is my basic principle. Jesus was the physical manifestation of God that was put on earth for the non-believers to either accept or reject. We have that freedom of choice.

I don't care what others believe or what they think of me for being a believer in God and in the Lord, Jesus Christ. I've had my life experiences to know I'm not perfect but closer to the truth than those who don't believe.

Discuss.

I wouldn’t call it full fascism but there are fascist tendencies from Trump for sure. Trying to undermine elections and questioning their integrity. Instigating an insurrection. A recent post about deporting those that protest. That’s all pretty baseline fascism.
These threads are proving my point. Pardoning a cop who murdered a black man. Defending an insurrection. Defending a guy who wants to undermine elections.

Fascism.

The 3 things you stated are categorically false statements. So where did anything prove your point? All you did was regurgitate the far left, fascist talking points. You do understand that fascism is a far left ideology, right? The current heirs of the fascist tradition are the Dem Party, the New York Times, Ivy League professors, and the liberals of Hollywood. I suggest you do some reading on the subject. You are grossly uninformed.

Seems to me that @KennyHeisman8 is new to this game. He just needs to have that special epiphany at some point in the future where he learns to answer the question posed to him instead of a question he thinks was posed to him.

Other questions that jump to mind....

Why does it matter that the victim was a black man?

If there was an insurrection, why wasn't anyone charged with insurrection?

If a student doth protest about another student's cheating, is the student undermining education?

Before you know it, Kenny will be snatching pebbles from our hands....

I think he's just a very young, uninformed, heavily biased kid who is having problems facing reality. And understanding questions asked of him to answer. Maybe when he grows up, he'll get it.

Heres a few more

1. If it was in insurrection, why didnt they bring guns to the fight?
2. Why did cops open doors that could only be opened inside the capital (ie they were magnetically locked)
3. Why did the hostile crowd walk between the ropes at the capital and have friendly discussions with the cops.
4. Why does it matter if the cop was white?

I think he’s older than you think. I could be wrong though. I get him and poker mixed up sometimes. One of them has been on these boards for as long as we have, which would indicate he’s at least 45.

Poker has been around for a long time. Poker was here during the Howland/Dixon years. KennyHeisman not as long, I don't believe.
