Hey guys a new PG Cater Whitt #52 2021 class per Dokich

Never understood how people can just re-classify to a different class. I guess I could see it if you flunked and moved back a class but if you're grades are that bad, how do you get admitted? Moving forward a class makes no sense to me. How does that happen?

Still, good luck coach. Land him!

The trend nowadays is to class backwards early or if you think you need a year of seasoning before college. That gives you options to move back into your original class.

Someone like Trey McGowens decides to go play for Hargrave’a postgrad team as a senior and class into 2019. When he realized he could get what he wanted into his original class of 18, he classed back up. It’s pretty common.

Classing forward makes sense to me. The sooner you get to college, the sooner you get to be out of college and potentially into the NBA. Especially if you get a P5 offer. Would you turn down Pitt if they told you you'd be starting in the ACC in 2019 rather than playing high school ball? Especially if the Duke/UNC/Kansas types may never come calling anyway?

I'm not talking about that aspect of it. My question is the academic angle. How do you get all your testing and credits dealt with a year in advance?

Oh, OK. So folks are kinda holding themselves back earlier on? I remember a friend held back in 1st grade because his kid was small for his age and it ended up working well for him athletically, though that wasn't the reason initially.

Basically. It's the new version of the famed "Mount Carmel Redshirt" from decades ago where kids would get held back in seventh grade so they could have an extra year of physical development by the time they were seniors in high school. It used to be really popular in football and wrestling up in the anthracite region back in the day - hell, that 5 star wide receiver from Southern Columbia is going to be almost 20 years old as a freshman by the time he gets to Ohio State next year.
