Hinson on ACC radio says Jeffers making an impact next year. Biggest surprise contributor...

Sorry, I know our team shocked the world (ok maybe that is hyperbole, maybe it mildly tweaked the world) last year when nothing was expected. But at least those guys had occasionally shown some moderate ability on occasion for their previous teams. Jeffress has shown bupkis to date. It would be more amazing than Huggy making it through Betty Ford clean and sober if he us able to make any meaningful contribution (no, moderate effort on defense as welcome as that is isn’t enough). As always the caveat “Hope they prove me wrong” is being applied here to let me off the hook if, well, this ends up being wrong

Lol great post. But really pretty spot on.

Hinson averaged 10 a game in the SEC his first 2 years then had medical problems.

Jeffress is in year 4 and couldn’t average 10 a game in the PSAC.

It’s an awful comparison

The comparison was regarding your comments on Hinson before the season. Lol. Maybe you just don't remember your comments.

He sat out 2 years, had a blood disorder and wasn’t cleared til after Labor Day.

I also said for 2 years straight Hugley wasn’t good and a cancer.

What’s your point? None of these things have anything to do with Will Jeffress never being a talented basketball player. Do you know the success rate of kids who class up (not to their original class but skip a grade)? It’s extremely low. The odds are astronomically high to be good. To do it with 2 grades is damn near impossible. It was a stupid decision basketball wise to class up. He never started on the EYBL, he played center against 5’10 white kids in high school. He was never challenged to figure it out. His game was completely stunted by staying at Erie McDowell and classing up. Had he stayed in his original class, he would’ve had time to figure out out to shoot, compete for a starting spot on team Durant instead of spot minutes, possibly get more athletic and let his game develop naturally.

Comparing what I said about Hinson before the year last year (when I knew it was gonna be almost impossible to get him cleared medically too) to what I’m saying about Will Jeffress (and have said for 3 years) is extremely stupid.

Not at all. I was the only poster in here who never bought into the John Hugley hype. High volume, lazy player who was a bad human. Credit to him for helping construct the team, but he was the biggest cancer we’ve had in 5 years. Once he was removed, the team gelled and had a solid, fun year. It was an all time call by me staying away from the Hugley train.
I heard that John Hugley is also responsible for inflation , Covid and the Russian invasion of Ukraine !

I don’t think it’s unfathomable to think Jeffress could provide 10-15 minutes off the bench. Someone that plays good defense and rebounds the ball well.

Which is more or (maybe a little) less than what he provided 2 years ago.

I think he can do the same this coming year. I only hope he can gain at least a little confidence on the offensive end. He has to be at least a little bit of a factor of the offensive end if he's going to make next year's team better.

For my umteenth time, I don’t get this notion of good D. He fell on his face allowing VA to win at the buzzer which still irks me. He’s not athletic or coordinated regardless if he was just 17 or whatever. By then a BB player in theory can walk and chew gum simultaneously. Don’t get this 4 star crap at all.

Man… that release is really low. How the hell is he gonna get a shot off?
Tbh probably a combo of (a) being 6’7” and (b) given his career film to date, I doubt opponents will invest too many bodies guarding him too close on the perimeter, at least until he proves otherwise.
