Home field disadvantage???

There are some places now where it’s said to be trendy to be gay in a gay bar even though you’re not. A bar full of Nebraska fans doesn’t sound like such a place.
The way they worship and idolize 20 year old men, I beg to differ.

i recall ohio state fans overtaking pitt stadium and oakland back in the 90's. That's the one fanbase that says they'll bring 20k and actually short sell themselves..

We played them twice at home in the 90s. I've been to nearly every Pitt home game since 1982 and those two games, by far, were the ones with the most visiting fans in attendance. Way more than Penn State ever had. Way more than the Hoopies or Notre Dame ever had. Not even close.

Zero thought went into that segment. If it were possible to claim a negative amount of thought, it would apply here. They should all be embarrassed.

Anyone who believes that secondary ticket market sellers are responsible for selling 100% of the tickets to a game should be embarrassed.

I would almost be inclined to think the folks at the four letter network did that as a joke to see how many dumb hillbillies would repeat that as truth, and pound their chest about it.

55,000 Pitt fans got their tickets through Pitt, not the secondary markets. So, the 75% number, if real, is only based on the tickets available on the secondary market. 10,000 to 15,000 at best. 75% of that number may have gone to the visiting fans, because Pitt fans for the most part got their tickets through Pitt.

This has to be one of the bigger SMFH examples I've seen in a long time.

Well done, to all involved.

In the host's defense, I'm pretty sure she is too dumb to understand what a secondary market ticket seller is and just thinks Pitt uses Vivid as their primary seller, thinking 75% of primary purchasers are WVU fans.

I dont even know why the WVU fan posted this. I mean I would guess like 75% of secondary market tickets are bought by visiting fans at many games. Pitt probably bought 75% of secondary market tickets at Tennessee. I did and there were plenty of Pitt fans in Tennessee season ticket sections. Home fans dont buy on secondary markets unless you are SMF in 2013, 14, and 15

I'll bet the hillbillies are pounding their chests over on the hillbilly board about this! This is truly the definition of stupid. You'd have to be stupid to say it and you'd have to be even more stupid to believe it.

come on guys, it was just a story about being surrounded by husker fans in station square. we dont have to have a holy war over my story.

You think being gay is politically oriented ?
And yes - Lincoln and Omaha are blue
Ya know - where people actually live
I just know what liberals say…that it’s not hip to be hetero in their progressive bubbles.

That’s ESPN using Vivid Seats as its source.

Direct your delusional comments to the world wide leader.

It won’t be 75% but it will be a hell of a lot more than 15k.
Vivid Seats? Who uses Vivid Seats? The Pitt resale partner is Stub Hub. Am I missing something, here? Talk about completely ridiculous.

75% WVU might be a bit high, but it’s not ridiculous. Pitt fans have been outnumbered by visiting fans numerous times in the past. Most recently in 2016 vs Penn State.
I actually can't think of a single instance of being outnumbered and I've been attending Pitt games since the 80s.

Maybe the game against Nebraska where Pittsburgh was flooded and people couldn't get to the games because roads were washed out. I wasn't able to attend that one either.

The next closest thing was Ohio State in 1995. But I'd say that was, at most for OSU, closer to 50/50. That's the most opposing fans I've ever seen at a Pitt home game, by far, and it isn't even close.

So yeah, it is absolutely BS. WVU fans are absolutely, bat shit delusional. They've never had more than 20%, at most, and that is being generous.

It is ridiculous. PSU fans DID NOT outnumber Pitt fans. It wasn’t even close. You’re making it up… BEAT IT!

Bubbles can be a funny thing. You can Google this if you choose:

Kennedy-Cuomo talked about being queer, noting that when she first came out she worried that people would think she was attention-seeking, since it’s “hip or cool to be not hetero in my liberal bubble”.

Florio’s Bio:

“Florio was born and raised in Wheeling, West Virginia. He attended Wheeling Central Catholic High School and graduated in 1983.

He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with two engineering degrees and from West Virginia University's law school in 1991.”

We need SMF to post his HD pic and break down the section by section numbers like he did 6 years ago.

Yes. He has his bias. We know that. But he too is now on record. What a dolt.

JFC… no they weren’t and no they won’t be tomorrow either… it’s been explained over and over in this thread… 75% of 10 or 15 k doesn’t equal 75% of total Stadium

I can’t imagine how much of an actual dumbass one must be to not understand this simple math?

Who is Mike Fiorio. Never heard of him.

Honestly, there is not likely a power 5 program in the country that would be outnumbered at home.
I just hate that there are like 5 threads On This site related to the nonsensical issue. And then the media legitimizes it.

You can't think of one because there isn't one. I'm no Pitt historian but I attended both games you mention. Nebraska was well represented but did not outnumber Pitt fans. The Ohio State game was close, really close but Pitt fans edged them out. At least till the first quarter anyway.

The only legit question about attendance is what will be the final tally? 70K? Can we squeeze any more than that?

lol, another myth. they had the right side of the upper endzone seats. when we intercepted the ball in the endzone to clinch the game, that's the loudest heinz field has ever been, including steeler games.

Ha! So we went from Souf name calling, calling me goofy and saying it’s asinine, to then going silent because he was shown that it wasn’t my position but rather the position of someone who would know more than he would or I would.

Then you tell me it’s a right wing talking point, until 5 minutes later you see that it actually isn’t a talking point at all and the opinion of someone who lives in that bubble…at which point you move the goalposts and say yeah, well, don’t listen to her.

sorry that I took the lady who said it was trendy to not be hetero at her word. Don’t shoot me the messenger. You guys should be bigger men and apologize. I know you have it in you. Souf though, I won’t hold my breath. :).
