I understand there is very little chance to make a change in 2020 with covid and lack of revenue this year, but he is probably going to lose at least 5 games again for the 6th straight year.

Why justify anything? Pitt football has largely been a haven for idiots for 82 years at every level. Administrators, coaches, players and yes even fans. Stop messing around and just give him a lifetime contract. Change Hail To Pitt to Bring In The Clowns and just play circus music at the games.

If you think a new head coach is some sort of an answer. You're a moron.

How do you not justify it unless you have a coach already lined up that is Hugh profile?

He has the best recruiting class he ever had coming in next year, and we just lost two games by one point while getting absolutely screwed by officials

The only play that involves firing Duz is if you have a big time sure thing that wants the job and you have the money to make it happen. No excellent coach wants this job and the athletic department is probably taking a financial bath right now and this season and all the external factors are going to drive away a full third of the fan base.

Here’s the deal. The next Pitt hire whenever that is has to be a young, smart, aggressive coach who can recruit. Whether that be someone from a lower level or an assistant. We aren’t going to be able to hire a good established HC . That isn’t happening.

Look. We’ve had every type of coach since ‘83. Coaches aren’t the issue.
Lots of folks won't go back to large events. Also, lots of folks went without sports for months and realized what a colossal waste of time and money they are in our lives. All sports are seeing huge drops. Some is social justice BS but most is just people losing interest.

The NDs, Mich's and Bama's will be ok. Pitt is roadkill.

but most is just people losing interest.

I know several older guys(some in their 80's), one of who gave money every year, who are losing interest because the difficulty of getting Pitt games on their tv's

Yeah only old people would not know how to watch games on their TV.

Next year is going to be a perfect storm of sorts for Pitt football. With the things that you are talking about, plus coming off what is looking like it may be a very disappointing season, plus with it looking like next year's team won't be as good as this year's team, it is going to be very hard for Pitt to convince anyone other than diehard fans to buy season tickets next year.

I agree. This is Heather’s nightmare. The need to make a move but no financial backing from admin due to other COVID costs or remaining fan base to do it. We’re stuck.

Maybe Heather shouldn’t have extended his contract. BIG MISTAKE!!

If he goes 4-7, which there is a high likelihood of at this point, somebody is going to have to take a hard look at this program. He runs a clean program but can’t get it done on gameday largely because he is too defense oriented. He can’t get an OC to save his life.

I don’t buy the idea of not being able to get a coach to run the program, especially with Lyke as the AD.

This is a far different athletic department with the right philosophy. They will figure it out. Financially, it will be a difficult move with his contract running through 2024 unless a wealthy donor ponies up a buyout. That is even less likely in the covid era.

2 Realistic Possibilities I hope HL has on her radar if something were to happen.

Billy Napier - Louisiana
Marcus Freeman - DC at Cincy

Here’s my issue with the over the top Narduzzi backers, for the last couple seasons whenever things were going bad they would all point to 2020 and say you can’t get rid of him because that’s the year the team will be loaded with talented veteran players.

Well here we are and it’s the same old shit, with the “next years recruiting is great” mantra thrown in yet again. I’m not saying the guy should be auto canned, but can we quit it with the Narduzzi is great crap?

Respectfully disagree, the only things that change with PItt football are HC names, team colors, script vs block and all the other nonsense that doesn’t include winning. When the priority is other than winning how can one expect a different result? A good year for Pitt football is 8 wins, 9 wins are unattainable at least until PItt can schedule Austin Peay, New Mexico Military Prep, Modesto JC, Case Western etc.

If that's your hardcore defeatist attitude, why are you on this board?

I bet the guy from eastern Michigan. Head coach. Knows Heather from emu. Idk, couldn't be worse, not a slam dunk by any stretch. He lost to Pitt so how good could he be?

Doubt it, if propelled to make a move, will find the right person to lead Pitt football. To date she has made solid hires that are still bringing their respective sports out of the depths of misery. She will make a move if so inclined.

I hope not. Creighton is nothing special and hasn’t really done anything to deserve what would be at least a middle of the road P5 job.

You’ve got to take a chance on a younger guy if you are in Pitt’s shoes when hiring the next coach. A good young, smart, innovative coach who can recruit. A coach that comes from a lower level or a current assistant coach. We aren’t going to steal a head coach from an established Top 25 program, and there is no reason to hire an average MAC coach.

With that being said, I have a premonition Joe Moorhead will be our next HC after PN’s tenure is over.

That would be scary as Moorhead has done nothing to show he deserves that job.

Not saying I know all the answers, I’m shocked Jeremy Pruitt has made Tennessee relevant again. Hell, Sam Pittman at Arkansas looks like he should be coaching Jr varsity at best, but they have shown massive improvement since he’s been there.

I am not saying I want him, but he would be my early odds on favorite. Marcus Freeman - DC at Cincy is a young guy to keep an eye on. Heather Lyke was at OSU when he played there and I’m hoping they crossed paths and like each other. I feel he is a big reason Cincy is having so much success.

I don’t think Pitt should even consider hiring another defensive coordinator. Even if A 20 years younger Dick LeBeau wanted the job.

No more coordinators! Got to have someone who was previously a successful head coach, There's lots of them out there at lower levels
