That's really an industry wide practice though. It's not like that sort of thing isn't common at other schools.

If I'm AD I can sympathize with the excuses, injuries etc. but that's on him completely since he assembled the team. I would say that this year is in no shape or form acceptable. Changes will be made. I would demand at least 3 coaches replaced if not all of them. Two, limit NIL money, he had more than an adequate budget this year and he did nothing with it. Provide less money this year and if he wants he can always supplement that with part of his salary. Make the NCAA and you get that amount back. Three I want my team to represent the university without being an embarrassment, that would include on court optics tuck in shirts don't act like a jackass showing your belly, act like you belong.

You sound like an old white guy , kids are different , time is different . I’m sure you want guys without tattoos too ! It’s not the 60’s ! If you find it unacceptable simple solution , don’t watch . Not one off the court incident , kids that go to class and excel in the classroom, really an embarrassment!

Do you know how many easy workarounds there are for a coach to fund his own team's NIL? And really, workarounds aren't even required. The NCAA isn't monitoring any of this.

I’m sure some schools look the other way , Pitt self reports violations , suspends players for minor violations and kicks kids out of school who did everything asked of him . JC violating NCAA rules would be a great way to fire him with cause . Not happening.

They can do fundraisers like golf tournaments, raffles etc

The NCAA rules don't state that a coach's parents or cousins or friends can't donate.😉😉😉

There are 100 ways to do it. Also, I'm not even sure they aren't allowed to donate to an NIL fund. You'd have to send that link.

Even if a coach does put part of his salary back in a pool to buy/retain talent, he would be dumb as hell to publicly acknowledge it.
