Honeymoon over for Capel

I know its one game, but this looks like the 2nd worst team Pitt team in decades. 3 years in, there is no reason to be this bad. They were picked 13th and they look like they'll be lucky to finish that high. If they finish around there, he is coaching for his job next season.

This isnt just "oh lets not overreact, its 1 game." Johnson and the team regressed from Year 1 to Year 2. Then, they regressed from November to March of last year. They have regressed again from March to November. The team has really gotten continually worse since its high point of early January 2019 (save for a nice start to 19-20).

We run no offense to speak of, don't play hard, turn the ball over, and dont rebound. This team is BAD. And Capel is now on the clock. He is Mark Gottfried/Kevin Keatts without the recruiting.

Lets not insult the players personally. Some you guys never grow up with that stuff, and somehow this provides an anonymous venting channel for some things for that maybe some soul searching is needed. But take that somewhere away from our team.

But anyway...

I agree the honeymoon is over. This is the year where we were supposed to pissed if they didn’t make (and win) a Tourney game. Still the whole season to go, but our program’s worst night in the worst shouldn’t be this. Let alone now.

I wouldn't say that. The goal for this to be an acceptable season was to at least be somewhat close to being on the bubble late in the season. Enough progress to know that the NCAAT in Year 4 was pretty much guaranteed with 5 starters back.

This team was plenty good to compete. We can’t predict young kids that decide they want to do something else
