Sometimes you get teams who are athletic and tough, but can't shoot, but Houston can do it all. Sampson can coach.
Similar to old Pitt teams in the athletic and tough department. They get after it. Capel's teams = who the heck knows.

Just really enjoy watching an outstanding, ball-handling, facilitating lead guard like Shead. He can score, too. 😊
But he is the leader and keeps things organized and under control. Miss that type of player and leadership from Pitt these days. Those types of guys are out there. Need to get some of them here at Pitt.
The Cougs have a nice group. They defend really hard all game long. Rebound well on both ends. If they can keep making shots they’ll be a tough out.

Yep I agree, Sampson is an excellent coach and has a talented team playing good ball. I’ve been high on them in this tourney from the get go.
I believe it is mostly a new lineup. In any case, you can't compare one year to the next. This Houston team has a different team dynamic. The one constant is Sampson and his philosophy. That's one of the reasons they win and are a dark horse for at least a Final 4.
I hope they do, I have them losing to Gonzaga in the national championship!
Well coached, extremely athletic and just relentless pressure against every opponent at both ends of the floor from their slew of quality guards. Those guards are just everywhere and seem to come at you in waves. It’s like they have 10 of the same player.
You’d think they would have big problems with Cockburn but they used Illinois’ slower pace to their advantage and just ran circles around Illinois at both ends.
Kelvin’s a damned good coach and he has found and perfected a winning formula down there. That’s a 4-5 seed you never want to see in your favorite team’s region.

I love Houston. I specifically love Kelvin Sampson. Great coach and great team.
Especially considering he lost two top players. One was the leading scorer at the time. How much better would they be with them.
