How did we do in the wrestling championships?

It was Rande II: we underperformed. Read the two threads on the tournament. Oklahoma State who we beat in a dual meet (on criteria) finished third. Edinboro who we tied (losing on criteria) I believe finished 5th. VT who we beat in the dual meet finished 7th I believe. Guys who lost to Pitt wrestlers during the year made AA. Wilps was the only Panther to make AA finishing 7th.
Mikey, a 2 or 3 time PIAA champ went 0-2 at 149. He ran out of gas in both matches by the third period, a constant problem for Pitt wrestlers in the tourney. James English, a walk-on for PSU who was their third stringer at 149 but had to wrestle in the B10 tourney due to injuries to the other 149s, made AA and finished 7th. He wrestled a great tournament and IMO was why PSU won.
I have a real concern now that having a HC who coached for 9 years under Rande and two assistants who wrestled under Rande has resulted in the same mindset the program suffered through under him. I was really optimistic at the end of the dual season but after watching the meltdown in the ACC tourney and NCAAs, I now am skeptical about the future. We were leading a number of matches in the third period only to lose them, often by large margins. Bright for example gave up 7 points in the final 90 seconds. Mikey was 2 ahead and gave up 5 points in the final minute. In his second match he gave up 7 points in the 3rd period. And that was how it went.
