Why does it take Narduzzi so long to find replacement coaches?

WVU loses a head coach, a week later they name a new one. Miami has Richt retire, new coach named in a couple days.

Narduzzi fired people, which means he knew he would be searching for these jobs before they became public. If both roles are not filled by next week, it's embarassing.

And it is your business because you are embarrassing... shut up !

How is it not embarassing that every other university is prepared....but Pitt fumbles around for a month to make a hire.

Firing Watson should not be a suprise to him, he should be prepared and vetting candidates. Lets see if this takes longer than a few days.

Didn't know I said a coach should be hired today. Thank god we have the drama queen here as a poster to put whatever spin he wants on other people's words to entertain. him.

The Vols have been looking for an OC since November. Did you or anyone else on this board know that? I only knew because they came up in a Matt Canada search I did. You are comparing hiring HCs with assistants which are no comparison.

Nobody but the team, posters on this board and a few local media guys cares about Pitt football right now. There’s nothing “embarrassing” about this situation.

Not exactly a comforting comparison considering the quagmire Knoxville has been for a decade

So basically you are comparing hiring a head coach to an assistant?

Come on. If you expected Narduzzi to immediately hire a new OC you are kidding yourself. If the hire drags on for 2-3 weeks then start complaining

I'm not sure I understand. You guys are telling me that a HC should need more time to hire an OC than an entire athletic department should need to hire a HC?

Again, NOT complaining about today. This is another test for me to show me if Narduzzi has changed. If it takes more than a few days, then either Narduzzi didn't properly prepare for his next OC while he still had Watson, or this was forced on him from Lyke, so he had no time to prepare and had no intentions on firing Watson.

I can see both sides of this debate . If you are gonna fire somebody you better have some ducks on the pond but no one expected an announcement yet especially for such an important hire now that we seem to have a much improved pool of defensive talent. However if no announcement is made by the third week in January then there are some issues.Perhaps a new and fresh hire can persuade some offensive recruits to consider for the February signing date like maybe a tight end or a receiver especiall

Remember how the sky was falling when the basketball search was happening and Lyke produced Capel? I could be wrong but with her around I feel like we will be pleasantly surprised in this situation too.

Who is the drama queen? Omg if the OC is not hired it will be so embarrassing.

LOL

Dude I was just relating what you said

The OPs point is that it took Duzz way too long to find Watson and Bates - after signing day in Feb. and sure he took his time to find his friend Watson. There is no reason Duzz can't head to the meetings this next week and name the new OC next Saturday. To hell with someone else's recruiting class. In fact, he should get it done so the new OC can recruit over the final three weeks of the cycle.

He has been a bit slow in the past and should have a replacement a week or so. But the importance of a quick hire isn't what it used to be with the early signing period

No, I'm telling you hiring a HC is much more visible and important than hiring an assistant coach.

There won't be a coach hired in the next few days, and it won't mean anything.

True. That basketball coaching search that took forever in the end just reeked of desperation, what an embarrassment that ended up being o_O.

This can’t be a serious post, right? If Narduzzi hired someone in 1 day that would be something to really worry about.

Where in any of my posts have I said new OC hired in 1 day? How is anybody getting the idea that hire an OC in 1 day is what the original post means when I even throw a 1 week target in it?

You think an OC hire is going to get a coaching search firm assigned to it? I hope so, because I don't think it will. I think this will be a 90% Narduzzi hire, which scares me. If Lyke is involved and has 50% pull, I feel much more confident.

Even if it is more than one week.. how could it possibly be "embarrassing"

Let's see. Pitt played a game on Monday. Fired the OC on Thursday. And BigBird wonders why a replacement isn't named by Friday.

There's something screwy here. And it ain't Pitt's coaching search.
