How Long....

You guys can keep bitching about my thread making up timelines like needed to hire a coach yesterday etc.

I'll stop back next week and hopefully praise Narduzzi for hiring an OC within a decent timeline.

Well it's nice of you to give him a week.

Why does it take Narduzzi so long to find replacement coaches?

WVU loses a head coach, a week later they name a new one. Miami has Richt retire, new coach named in a couple days.

Narduzzi fired people, which means he knew he would be searching for these jobs before they became public. If both roles are not filled by next week, it's embarassing.
Your words

The implications obvious

If he only knew 2 days ago that he would be looking for an OC, then the whole football program is a mess. Don't you think he should be sending feelers out in mid december on who may be interested? At the time of the announcement. He should be down to a candidate pool of 3. Take a week to 10 days to mull over those 3 and maybe a new candidate you didn't think of then make the hire.

Canada left 12/14 and Watson was hired on 2/2. A month and a half to hire Watson? If this goes longer than 10 days, be scared, as it shows you they were not prepared.

Ask yourself this: For better or for worse, if Pitt scored 42 points against Stanford last week, would we be having this discussion right now?
I don’t

That tells you what you need to know

As for wvu, Holgerson had been on the hot seat for seemingly five years now. And the rumors of him leaving after this season had existed for a while. No surprise that wvu had a contingency plan. Contrast that to Pitt where the past four coaches were mostly unexpected departures

Yes, I would. Just like I didn't let the Wake Forest game lead me to believe that Picket was good passer. Watson has sucked for 2 years, don't let a handful of performances change your perspective. Narduzzi is way smarter than me, he should be seeing it way before I can.

Yes because there isn’t any transience in college football and those candidates will certainly be available.

No, it would be embarrassing to me to think that while the season was going on and the staff was working on a game/practice plan to prepare the team for one of the team's biggest showcases of the season, with Watson was still on the staff that Narduzzi was sending out "feelers" to see who would be interested in replacing him after he was fired. But that's just me.

Ok
Color me unconvinced that there would be a change if there was a decent offensive performance

I had said the best outcome for the Sun Bowl would be a 4-3 Pitt victory

Great. Now he has 10 days. keep yapping and he'll have a whole month.

I think Paris Ford would make a great offensive coordinator. There's at least five threads about him on the board, dude must be awesome

You think an OC hire is going to get a coaching search firm assigned to it? I hope so, because I don't think it will. I think this will be a 90% Narduzzi hire, which scares me. If Lyke is involved and has 50% pull, I feel much more confident.
Regardless if it’s the head coach or a firm doing the hiring, I just don’t see a need to panic. Nothing wrong with due diligence. For all we know narduzzi may want to talk to someone that is coaching tonight.

Good job coach! I wanted to see a coach in 7-10 days and you got it done in 9. Shows you and Lyke were prepared. A very positive sign for Pitt.
