I was 15 at the time and do remember. However, I was not a Pitt fan at that age. Ah, the foolishness of youth.I was 14.
So basically, were you around and old enough to remember the national championship win over Georgia?
Federal regs make it a violation of privacy to ask that question.. I'd already been a Golden Panther for 5 years.I was 14.

I was 30. First time in NOLA. I remember the Georgia fans being obnoxious and kept saying Pitt would be dog meat. I also remember being a little worried that our players were walking around the French Quarter in the evening.
By halftime, the Georgia fans in the stadium were as quiet as church mice. After the game, they left the stadium so fast there was no time to insult them.
Someone said they had grits for the first time in New Orleans. With all the great food there, why in the world eat grits?
One of the great things about that team was how forthright the assistants were. I went up to Fall camp for two days and ran into some assistants, who were having a drink with Boo Connor and a couple of the other guys who worked at the Field House who I knew pretty well from having worked in the AD during college. Boo introduced me to them and I later mentioned that I was worried about opening with ND. One of the assistants looked at me and said "Mike, if you own a house bet the damn house on us against Notre Dame. We are too fast for them. We are going to kill them."
Unfortunately, I didn't own a house but we did kill them. I ran into that assistant before the Sugar Bowl and he told me we would kill Georgia. He said we could run on them and their secondary couldn't cover our receivers. And he said they would be lucky to get inside our 40 twice on offense. Again, pretty damn accurate.
I was 14.

Hey Oakland Guy - nice to see you here. Post more often!Well this topic finally got me to respond to a message. I was 49.
I graduated from Central Catholic in 1945.
.I spent a few years ln the navy and graduated in1950.with a chemical engineering degree.
I saw a lot of terrible football in the 50s and 60s. It was really bad. . Pitt stadium was a dump. thank god it is gone. No amount of renovation could bring it to looking good. The national championship was a godsend.
