I asked my dad and he said 4 too. I was thinking 3. But I don’t really watch the NBA so I don’t know the interpretation of the rule these days.

the new thing is "gathering the ball" which i hear from nba fans who justify this. you can take as many steps while you are gathering the ball. i dont know, 4 steps is 4 steps and it's a travel in every level of basketball across the globe with the exception of the nba.

The NBA is the entertainment business. They aren’t calling a travel that takes a dunk/points off the board. More points and more dunks=more views.

Maybe the Pirates can teach their pitchers how to incorporate a 15-foot lunge into their windup and throw 45-foot fastballs.
