Thoughts on Capel going after a center with one of the three remaining ships, depending on what is possible to pick up. Free John to play some at the 4. Does not take away from the need for shooters, just speculating.

Hugley has to stay at the 5. Hugley has no ability to step out and spread the floor so adding another big would just clog up the land and make guarding Hugley much easier. The best way forward is isolating him underneath and spreading the floor with guys that can shoot and,or drive to the hoop and create.
This and I’m not accusing you of this Doc but I don’t know why people are so eager to take all of John’s best attributes around the rim and take those away to highlight his worst attributes, namely, shooting, ball handling, passing, decision making and replace him on the block with a worse player.
No doubt, we need him at the rim and yes, he gets worse the further away from it he gets. I appreciate reasonable takes, it makes for quality discussion!
I think there is still room in college basketball for a team to be successful offensively with an old school 4 and 5 that both play a traditional post game. Not in the NBA, but in college.
