Hugley visiting WVU

If he’s trolling Pitt he should probably realize that no one at Pitt cares? I’m doubtful he’s really trolling Pitt though unless he’s that bent out of shape about how things went for him this season.

Good luck to him though. I’ll root for his success unless he’s playing Pitt.

He’s bitter about what went down. That’s obvious. It’s why he didn’t accept his role then left tHe team instead of cheering on the team like Jeffress or Dior. John “Me” Hugley

Well, I hope he turns his attitude around quickly before he runs out of eligibility. I won’t judge too harshly given he’s still basically a kid without the benefit of hindsight. Someone should hook him up for a talk with another Pitt to WVU guy in Rushel Shell. He could tell him a thing or two about pissing away chances.

Given this kids’ history it’s like his 10th chance

As I have always said, Hugley has elite offensive skills even if you dont consider "brute force" a skill. However, he has no basketball IQ and has character flaws. If he can be coached, he can be really good and I was expecting him to have a major breakthrough last year and become a 1st Team All-ACC player. Didnt come close to happening but he has a lot of potential. Is he worth the risk for a good program? I would say no.

His elite offensive skills netted 44 percent from the field and 3 plus turnovers a game. He sucks, he always sucked, and always will suck. He’s not elite offensively.

You’ve been wrong about Hugley every step, while the GOAT has been right, and you’ve almost corrected course and listened to your teacher. So close

If he thought playing for Capel at Pitt was tough, good luck playing for Huggy Bear. I remember being at at game where he made Joe Alexander cry.

What do you mean? It was an injury that cost him an NFL career! Thank goodness for the Steamfitters.

What a bunch of classless Aholes some of you are . The kid was Pitts best player for 2 yrs got hurt and was suffering from mental health issues . None of us know the actual facts of his personal journey . Wish the kid luck with his future and move on .

I'm not sure where you are getting that 2 years number from...1 decent year...btw, "mental health" issue is an extremely broad term. I often have a couple cookies after 10 at night. I am not hungry and I know I should not eat them but I do. It is a "mental health" issue that I struggle to overcome. Do you happen to have a diagnosis so I can up the dial on my sympathy meter a notch or two?

Sad isn't it.

He didn’t have mental health issues. It was an excuse to leave the team because he lost his spot

I was willing to support him and give him the benefit of the doubt. But it’s looking like his mental health problem is because he lost his spot. If he had issues, how does leaving to keep playing solve them; especially if it’s not him getting closer to family? His mental health wasn’t an issue to enter the portal the first day it opened.

This is even more questionable because he screwed Pitt by getting arrested, then gets injured, then loses his spot, then decides to transfer. Maybe Capel got sick of his antics, maybe he had real mental issues. But it’s hard to see that.

He's a punk ass bitch that needs to grow up and I hope he does for him and his families sake.
He had shitty life circumstances that I'll admit. And they're not easy to overcome a cycles of broken families.
You got a kid now. Time to man up.
I wish him the best.

I used to be in the camp of thinking he had some anxiety or mental health issues that he needed to sort out before he could think of playing again. He wasn't as good as some on here seem to think. He played no defense, couldn't move and was a turnover machine. But I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and hoping he got healthy.

Now, there are no excuses. He has mental health issues, for sure. But I'm sick of his excuses. He wanted to be pampered and Capel did the best he could with him. It wasn't enough. I'm not even sure now that he wasn't just playing Pitt and Capel and looking for sympathy. Let him try being coached by Huggy, if he thinks Capel was tough. Huggy will make the poor baby cry. Maybe someday he'll grow up. But I doubt it.

To be fair, weren't you the one who made a thread about how you hoped he was okay and it looked like he was struggling with mental health stuff?

When we thought he wasn’t a selfish teammate and claimed he was going thru mental issues? Sure. It became abundantly clear when Chet started posting the workout videos it was just another in a long line of selfish moves by John MEgley

Selfish maybe true. But as I told someone else. He made the right move for himself, leaving when he was embarrassed and saw the writing on the wall. He made a choice that for him, and his needs is probably the best for him. I can't knock that. I can knock him for a myriad of other things related to him leaving

Now he's got his 2nd big choice of where to go to school and let's see if he can get that right.

Just knowing that there is someone out there who knows what I am going through and cares means the world to me. Now that Oreos have gone passed double stuffed to mega stuffed the struggle is that much more difficult... Thank you so much for your kind words.

The best thing for his future is to go somewhere where he will get a lot of tough love & better coaching. He really had no business even setting foot on the floor this year in his physical condition. I know he was injured before the season, but he had been cleared to play for over a month and it didn't look like he really put any effort into conditioning and getting back in game shape.

He has some good skills and he can contribute somewhere. But first, he has to get in shape and put more work in his game. He needs to become a lot more efficient than he was at Pitt, even in 2021-22. Otherwise, he's really not going to help his team win.

Best of luck to him going forward.

I am a supporter and always been a well wisher of his.
If he goes to WVU, all bets are off.

Whether it was "mental health" or whatever, things just went south for him here. It I'd what it is. He didn't trash anyone or anything, so for me go in peace.

I seriously doubt his interest in WVU has anything to do w Pitt. Dude is just trying to find the best place to be able to get on the court and succeed.

No idea why he left
But it was a big, big loss
And all the geniuses who write him off as sitting behind FF & the Twins will be wishing he was still here next year
i think he is talented or at least was and have no ill feelings. but this staff and program bent over backwards twice for him, capel put his neck out on the line and be basically spit it back in capel's face..

he was a headache and a liability and really hurt this program a few times.. i dont blame pitt fans for holding a grudge.. if he goes elsewhere and succeeds, well good for him for FINALLY Taking advantage of yet another chance that was given to him..

Not many people are lucky enough to get a 3rd (or 4th) chance like he does..

Appreciate you sharing and taking care of us little folk!
Good luck to you lad. It ain't easy being one of the little folk. Especially with your razor sharp wit.
Keep workin' on it. It'll serve you well.

Assuming you're serious, many posters -- a lot -- attributed Hugeley's departure to not wanting to sit on the behind FF & the Twins, where they consigned them next season, as if after he recovered he would not regain his spot. HCJC has been searching for a banger since he left.
