Hugley

I for one am disappointed in his decision , but who knows what he’s dealing with . I know it’s difficult for some on here , but your health both mentally and physically are more important than ppg or shooting percentage. I hope he makes a full recovery and transfers to place he can thrive at .
Best of luck to him. I think he left Because his baby mama said to get your ass home and rock your crying baby at 2 am. My guess is Cleveland State to stay close to the fam.

He could have picked a better time to announce it vs. game day of the tourney. Pitt has done nothing but support him through his arrest and his mental health issues. He could have at least not made this a story the day of their game.

I don't think the guys on the team really care right now. It won't be a distraction, but it was a classless move by Hugley at this time, probably to get attention. Pitt has a game to play and Hugley hasn't been around for a long time.

If he’s dealing with personal issues best of luck to him.

JC & his staff have always been supportive of Hugley. For him to announce on the day of our first NCAA tournament game since 2016 isn’t cool. It’s not going to change the outcome of the game one way or the other. But he could have shown more respect to JC & his staff who always had his back.

Yeah the decision to announce today comes across as a little pouty. But maybe it isn’t.

I'm thinking mid/lower P-6 programs (Seton Hall, Minnesota types) will shoot for him. People see 14.8 PPG in the ACC.
If I'm Hugley and I want to play ball I'm going to the MAC and putting up numbers on a team that will make my post game the focal point offensively, like a mid-major Edey.

Hugley can be the Zach of the MAC if you will.

My gawd, he misspelled the very first word in his Instagram post.

I realize that someone probably prepared this for him, but c'mon...

Well, his mental health must have improved to the point where he made this decision.
Candidly, he averaged what he did because we were awful. We missed shots and he grabbed some rebounds, got putbacks. He was overweight and slow.
I hope he becomes a better player and person and wish him luck. In the future we will not have to take guys like him.

Let's hope he doesn't trash Capel going out the door. Oddly, it seems like a similar player/position/emo-situation as the nonsense going on at TCU.

God told him to leave the ACC and to go to Cleveland State....Pretty much the biggest head scratcher by the Almighty since He told Abraham to whack his son, Isaac, on Moriah

This eventual result was obvious to anyone with a brain. But pretty crappy to do this today. I suppose it is consistent with the guy’s character though (and his spelling ability).

Thanks for the past efforts for us, good luck…let’s all move on

A boatload of other players entered the portal today. He's doing what is in his best interest and looking out for his own interests. It's not like this is coming as a surprise to anyone. I don't think the timing is a big deal.

I’m sure the team knew for awhile

Still why announce today? WTF?

Definitely could have waited

It was announced today because yesterday was when the transfer portal opened back up. He literally entered his name in the portal as soon as he could have. And then once you are in there, people find out about it. So he entered yesterday and people found out today.

The only way the timing of the announcement would have been different would have been if someone saw that he entered the portal yesterday instead of this morning, and then the announcement would have been yesterday.

I think Skyy Clark claimed "mental health issues" when he was benched this year at Illinois. That must be the new thing.
Yea, it’s called pouting syndrome. Hughley was mad Federiko took his job so like a lot of entitled young divas he claimed mental health issues. That’s what we do in todays age. In our day it was called dealing with adversity

We move forward without him. GL to our Panthers who had an amazing season this
people on message boards should express their opinions...

I agree wholeheartedly. How quickly we forget the on court effort he put out playing on a very poor team last year. I met John accidentally just prior for him announcing that he was stepping away to get right. I approached him gave him H2P and he responded with a big toothy grin. Wished him well and he politely replied thank you. Let’s just care about his well being and forget about the basketball impact. I’m

Which team needs a player who needs 20 shots to score 15 points ?
As a post player ?
Barely rebounds and sucks in defense ?

I'm sure Capel had some type of conversation with him regarding his future in the middle of all this.

The MAC bro.

A little different level there. No good bigs. Very few actual bigs. A healthy fit Hugs could do a lot of damage in that league.

I'll give u my best guess.

John got Embarrassed that he was fat and slow and sucked
He saw the writing on the wall.
He wasn't making the proper advancements in practice and games.
It got hard.
Depression and Anxiety could've been a factor but those things don't make you quit.
He quit. He went back to the only guy that can help him.
He's comfy again.
Seems like Chet is his Custamato

Honestly he made the correct choice, so kudos to him. Coming back would've been a mistake. He wants to be a stretch
Depression and anxiety don't make you quit??? Had a few friends that passed away from it that were treating etc. They weren't alcoholics or drug users either.

No they don’t make you quit
They may not make you able to play -
But literally quiting the team - no
He did that all his own selfish self

He’s 100% a selfish kid

I’m sick of the mental health excuse. In order to be a basketball player at this level and to go to the NBA which is what these guys are trying to do you have to overcome obstacles and quitting on your team just shows me what you think about your relationships with your teammates that you invested in to not have enough respect to do it on a Wednesday in between games SMH. Everybody has mental health problems when you are thinking about things stop using that has excuse for guys to be low class humans
