I hope Pitt Protest the Paris Ford call

I’m not arguing that. I’m talking about the rule itself which no one can possibly think is good.

the only reason you are saying you agree with the rule is because you want to continue your act of smugness and superiority.

have a great day! For someone that likes to portray themselves as superior to everyone on here you spend a lot of time trying to convince everyone of it.
I’m not acting superior to read the rule
See the call was correct -
And pointing out that reality to those In denial

tackle the hips and wrap up.
Sure you may not make a highlight reel , though

Why would the acc care at all about duke football?
That is silly
They don't, they care about Duke.
Have you heard of Duke basketball the Blue Blood dynasty.

It's like the official who made the bad call against PITT in the PITT vs ND football game.
As it was turns out and was reported in various sports news stories he didn't attend ND, but his father did and was a former ND QB.
The official had lots of ND memorabilia in his home. He should have refused that game.

Simple refs need to look at.. if this WR doesnt lower his head, where about would contact have been made, In this case Ford would have popped him right in his chest. The WR moving his head down is what exposed his head and neck area. Also hik lowering means he was aware if the hit, and was defending his own self so he wasnt defenseless. He caught the ball a year short if the sticks and was trying to use his own force to get past Ford to get over the sticks. This crap is killing this sport, make kids sign waivers saying they know the risks, football is dangerous , I may pay for it in my older age but I understand the consequences and sign. And get rid of these baby rules, and get back to football.

You all really need to rewatch the play-
The receiver makes the catch
Gets one foot down
Ford hits him before his second foot comes down .

Ford not only hits him above the shoulders-
Which is targeting
He launches upward with the hit - also targeting .

you can not like it-
But ford broke the rule
being it was his second personal foul- no benefit of the doubt .

the replay officials confirmed the call

Targeting does not solely occur when players initiate helmet-to-helmet contact. It's defined as occurring when a player "takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball." Instances include, but are not limited to:

  • Launch--a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area.
  • A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground.
  • Leading with helmet, shoulder forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area.
  • Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of his helmet.
None of that happened.

He absolutely did not launch you lying contrarian antagonist

What seems more likely to you? General human incompetence in a job or nine referees coordinating an anti Yankee conspiracy to help powerhouse Duke football?

yeah, outside of like the 13-9 game I’ve never seen a game I thought the refs were cheating to
Help a team win. Maybe the RMU Villanova tournament game at the end.

honestly though most of the time I think it is just Being bad.

Also if the refs had a pro Duke bias, they would have taken away one of our interceptions for obvious pass interference by Hamlin instead of ruling it "uncatchable"

I certainly have no dog in this fight. I'm not a fan of either team. When I read the rule and watch the replay, I couldn't confirm the penalty. Why? There has to be intent, aim for the head , launch , forcible contact. I saw none of those things. If defensive players cant lead with their heads, offensive players shouldn't either.

I remembered a play a few years ago. Michael Robinson permanently disable a guy from Minnesota while playing quarterback. He lowered his head and smoked him. Today, that would have been a penalty on the Minny defender.

Watching the game replay... Ford was in almost the exact same situation during Duke's first drive, and he hit the guy in the bread basket. I truly do just think he was pressing a bit trying to break the ball up. Combine that with the receiver lowering his head, and it was a recipe for disaster. Ford needs to come back and just do exactly what he's been doing. Don't try to make a game's worth of plays in one half at Syracuse.

If you go frame by frame you see this isn’t true. He hit would not have been shoulders or above if the receiver didn’t launch his helmet down to try to hit Ford.

It was complete bs. An absolutely horrible call and against the rule.

This. Horrible call. No launching with upward motion. Textbook hit. The receiver dropped his head, which arguably made him a runner.

The receiver had only 1 foot down after the catch before the hit.

that’s a hell of a trick to run on one foot with another coming down while getting hit in the head

Who do you actually support.
You never support PITT in anything!
You are a TROLL antagonist, the glass is empty, not a PITT fan.

You are a PITT fan fake!

Go away!
