Kenny Pickett is superior to every player on our roster this year. Our team Is better than Pitt without Pickett, period.
More talent, better defensive line (2nd most important position) and more depth.
The original question asked about 2022. Pickett won’t be at Pitt next season. He will forgo his remaining eligibility and enter draft.
Pitt could certainly win the opener next season. Variance is real. I still contend WVU will win all 4 games just like in hoops. XII forced us to elevate our recruiting game. We are one of 4 teams (out of 10) without a recruiting area. In the ACC, 10 teams don’t have home recruiting area.
Comparing XII intra-conference games and ACC intra-conference games would be foolish because the former is superior to the latter.
We destroyed NCSU 2 years ago and we had a crap team in NB’s first season. This season we were throttling VT until a late game near-collapse nearly resulted in defeat. It was us. Not them. We tried to give them the game.
In hoops and football, WVU is 15-4 as a XII member versus ACC.
There’s a very real reason why WVU alum want in the ACC. It’s not because we want to play most of the teams because we don’t. We DO want to play Pitt and VPI. AND we do want to be in that conference because it’s close to home and our tons of SE alumni, but most importantly, it’s so incredibly more manageable to win in hoops and football.
