I repeat BEG Wanny to come back

Turns Pitt around from what? He was 8-4 in his first 2 seasons. He beat Louisville, PSU and Clemson. This year looks like it could be a down year but is far from over. We are 1-2.

The OKL St game was horrendous, but we showed signs we could run against PSU and that has to be a source of encouragement. We really did not make much of an effort to run the ball today, early or late.
As in touch you are with bb recruiting Pitt Fb is recruiting a bunch of 3stars . He won't get it done with 3 stars . This yr looks to be challenging to say the least . My biggest concern is with his insistence of putting his db's on an island when they're just not up to it . A good coach builds schemes around his players abilities and adjusts when there not working . I haven't seen that at all defensively and that's his area of expertise .

people should look at what the Nebraska AD had to say about the football team after they lost at home yesterday. A loss to OK State was not the issue, the manner in which they were ripped to shreds is the issue.

Narduzzi change year recruiting was poor (as it is for most change coaches). First full year was OK. Last year was poor locally. This year looks good to me and it is not complete.

On rivals a 5.5 ratings is acceptable. 5.6 and 5.7 are improvements. Anything over 5.7 is great.

I have been complaining for quite awhile about no individual opponent game plans - Just doing our stuff - Our stuff repeatedly results in our linebackers and safeties with mismatches in space.

I've discovered a safe way for manned space travel to Mars.
But I'm still working on a defensive scheme that would have stopped Cinny in 2009.

Sadly that will not happen but Pitt is still trying to recover from the colossal mistake of firing Wanny. One they may never overcome

Crikey, "Colossal"! Exactly what program, or is it a pro team that we now have to look to and bow our heads in sorrow just seeing the heights that Wanny has taken them to? All this incessant looking backwards and selectively at that.

Yesterday was downright painful and fans have every right to be angry about it but honestly the Wanny game at Uconn where Pitt outclassed them on talent everywhere on the field (both in recruiting rankings and future NFL'ers) was equally incompetent and burned just much as what we got yesterday.

Fire Conklin, upgrade it with someone that can recruit well, and look forward.

yes bring back the coach that lost to ohio and bowling green and couldn't win a lousy conference

he has a much better gig now with fox sports as a college and nfl analyst, i bet it pays better and he is actually good at this job unlike his stint at pitt

basically what would you rather have? Someone who is not particularly a good coach but has NFL experience and can use that to bring in semi good recruiting classes and put people in the seats, or have someone that is a good coach but cant recruit and cant put butts in the seats?

Of course I am making a big assumption that Narduzzi is a good coach, right now we don't have evidence of this, specifically on the defensive side of the ball, his specialty. And of course I know Wanny isn't coming back, the realization basically is that Pitt will be in the dumps for the forseeable future. Last season would have been just like this one if we didnt have a once in a generation offense (give Chryst credit for that)

Can't be bothered to read 3 plus pages of a thread dedicated to such a ludicrous idea. Do you not remember Johnny Majors II?

Don't remember a certain someone taking the helms over a team that had gone to a few bowl games including a recent BCS one and then proceeding to go bow-less his first three seasons? Inherited a better situation back then than Narduzzi, that's for sure but hysterical reactions are much more fun.

I understand the anger, I guess some of us just better remember the anger that came with expecting to win hardware but losing to Rutgers more often than not.

At least when Wanny coached Pitt still had expectations!

Only took him 4 seasons to get back to a winning record. Glory days indeed.

Expectations were to go 2-4 against Rutgers in his career too?

You keep pushing Wanny as the standard bearer and you just might outdo your Canada was a bad hire done on the cheap mantra you shared dozens of posts on last season.

Why the use of plural?
Season 6 was 7-5.
Seasons 1-3 no bowl games.
High water mark season 5 and our third place conference finish beating the 5th place acc team in a third tier bowl game for win 10.

Again followed quickly with a regression to the mean.

What ever makes you feel better. One 10 win season every 30 years or so is the standard. Wanna nit pick that, go right ahead.

He won the Big East in 2010. ...So losses to Bowling Green & Ohio are somehow more embarrassing than losing to Youngstown State, Toledo, Akron, or giving USF their first ever D-1 FBS win?

Not advocating bringing him back or even trying to make him a better coach than he was but the domino effect his firing had is in that Pitt is still trying to recover from. The coaching carousel made the program a national joke and damaged recruiting and reputation severly..

If Wanny had stayed the program would probably be further ahead at this time and we would have avoided the embrassing/program killer coaching carousel.
Wanny wouldnt have made PITT Great Again but he would have moved things forward.
The key was to make a really good hire after the Wanny firing which obviously didnt and maybe hasnt happened yet??!!

how did his nfl experience benefit pitt from 2005 - 2010?

i don't remember a lot of sell outs during that time

what BCS game did they play in that year?

nobody is arguing any other past underachieving coach should come back, so your point is irrelevant
