We were never going to have a great season.
The kid had zero experience. Best to let him play through it.

Smart man, Gary.We were never going to have a great season.

Not a chance. Yarnell is not near as composed in the pocketThats a fair point.
I still think we have a better chance with Yarnell.
Holstein has incredible moxie. He steps up in the pocket much better and continues to look down field to make plays. He was out fo sync in the first half. It’s impressive for a player that young to find his composure and get it together to pull out the game when things were not going well for himAs I put in the game thread, Yarnell is Pitt's version of Mason Rudolph. He can win games like today, but won't take the team anywhere special. Holstein has quite a bit of upside and will have growing pains as a young QB. You can just see he can be very good with more seasoning. I can see both sides, but I lean toward sticking with Holstein because of his upside.
Low bar. ha haHolstein has already eclipsed Tino Sunseri on the list of most 4th quarter comebacks in Pitt history
Great call Gary - I wanted to pull him I confess. We were never going to have a great season.

Kenny Johnson to the portal 😁302yds 3 td 1 int pretty good stuff
Without 1 completion to our supposed best receiver
Great call Gary - I wanted to pull him I confess.
I thought the game was out of hand at 27-6 for sure. Unreal turnaround performance. He for sure wasn’t playing well. After the pick he became indecisive which is a killer for qbs. My thought was stick with him until the game is truly out of hand. The kid appears to have many of the intangibles needed to be a good one so you have to let him work through these growing pains so that he’s not looking over his shoulder.
I think both Bell and Duzz think he’s going to be really good as wel Nothing against Nate. He’s a derivable Qb and they can win some games with him but this kid has a much higher ceiling
I hear ya but there was about 5 minutes and a whole quarter to go. Under cig it would have been out of hand. With Bells offense 21 points and a quarter plus is not insurmountable But again based on Pitt history for sure I understand the feelingI thought the game was out of hand at 27-6 for sure. I’m just trying to proclaim how wrong I was.I hear ya but there was about 5 minutes and a whole quarter to go. Under cig it would have been out of hand. With Bells offense 21 points and a quarter plus is not insurmountable But again based on Pitt history for sure I understand the feeling
