Sorry but wouldn't you just take a clear head shot on Allar? They have no backup QB. Not saying I agree with this strategy but damn, if you want to win the game, you sacrifice a LB for Allar. PSU has no backup.

Didn’t the backup outplay Allar like two games ago or something?

Tonya Harding has got to be looking for work. Maybe you can get in touch with her.

Disclaimer - This is a joke.

Allar is terrible, they should want him too play so they can get INTs. There is a reason he is not going pro, should tell u all u need too know

Not saying I agree with this strategy....but it was getting late last night and you had not yet met your idiocy quota for the day and had to get one more in...

I used to think that too but some NFL Draft Analysts have him has the #3 QB off the board. That could mean 2nd Round and he can make more at PSU so I don't blame him for coming back

My suspicion is that the feedback he got is that he could challenge for #1 overall in the 2026 draft or close to it, and I think he’s better than he gets credit for around here (which I understand is a tough crowd for guys who play for that school).

He’s also pretty young - I think he’s still only 20 years old. He’s not one of those QB’s who took a middle school redshirt or whatever, and I think the frequent feedback for those sorts of QB’s is to go back and get a little older. Being an NFL QB isn’t a job that’s cut out for close to a teenager - it’s different for other positions where you want to start getting NFL snaps as young as possible because it’s a waste of time to put more college tread on your tires. Kenny was almost three years older when he got drafted, IIRC.

Allar is not terrible.
He's not terrible, but it's not like he's so good that you are facing such slim odds of winning against him. If you're SMU, you'd have to think you have an okay shot at winning this game straight up full squad vs. full squad, so why would you need to resort to cheap shots?

I think this game will come down to whether SMU can hang with PSU in the trenches, and that has nothing to do with Allar.

McCord is much better but yea, Klubnik is a good comparison. It greatly helps Allar that the team he plays on is far more talented than who he is playing against in almost every game.
Allar’s biggest problem is his receivers can’t get open and Warren is the only player who can catch contested balls.

PSU's chance of winning with Allar is probably what, like 75%. Without him, and with the 3rd string QB playing, its probably like 25%.

What would stop PSU from retaliating and doing the same thing when SMU is on offense? And then again when the SMU backup attempts his first pass? Maybe they decide to have someone take out the SMU kicker's knee.

PSU has too much honor.

Some of you guys act like no one has ever tried to intentionally knock another player out of the game. Just this year, we saw that KU player attempt to end Shedeur Sander's career by gunning for his knee. It happens. Should it? No. But it does.

I dont hate it SMF. These coaches and players are not all great epopel, its about W/L's. People that play competitive sports understand that. There is a reason there were bounties int he freaking NFL!

Yes he is. He is terrible. Dude cant work in the redzone and stinks in every big game he's played. Eli is 100% the better QB and that will show in the draft in 2026. Just watch ball, not hard too see.
Here’s a throw in the red zone in a big game. Believe it was a fourth and ten. He’s good. Consistent? Not all the time. But he can make throws that a very small percentage of quarterbacks can make, and that’s why he’s going to go high in the draft.

I think the talent difference between OSU (formerly Michigan) and Penn State plays a big role. If your receivers aren’t getting open/cant catch contested throws, there’s only so much you can do.

That being said, I think Eli is better than Allar.

I disagree. If Allar is hurt, they probably put Warren in at QB and he takes the game over. With Allar, PSU's chances of winning are probably 70-75%, and PSU's chances of winning without him probably remain around 60-70%.

Admittedly, the play was ok. Eli doesnt even get touched in that pocket tho

I dont agree with it, but i am also not naive to believe that it happens in major sports.
until you provide me with a couple of examples of such (other than coach Coach Red Beaulieu putting the hit out on Robert Boucher Jr. of the South Central Louisiana State University Mud Dogs) in the last 30 years or so color me naïve as to its occurrence. For one thing, knocking someone out of a game, cheap shot or not, is a helluva difficult task to accomplish..For another thing, how in the hell in the age of the transfer portal can mouths be silenced after an order is put out to do so?
