There are several important dates coming up for the ACC Conference. Will it survive or will it implode like the PAC 10?

The first date is ACC Media Day. July 22nd thru July 25th. We are almost there. You can bet reporters will be all over Florida State, Clemson and ACC Commissioner trying to get a better read on where things are headed.

The second date is August 15th. Almost a month away. If Clemson and Florida State are gone next year they must give notice by this date. You have to assume they will or their arguments against the Grant of Rights go up. It simply has the potential to cost them a lot more to leave if they do not exercise this option.

The next big date is February, 2005. Not that faraway. ESPN must exercise their option to extend the ACC deal. Will they extend if Clemson and FSU have announced they are gone?

Rumors were floated on the internet that the SEC and Big Ten have broken off negotiations with Clemson and FSU and that they were making inquires to the Big 12. This could happen if FOX and ESPN are willing to pay the Big12 more money.

If Clemson and FSU leave does the ACC try to add a couple of teams? USF and Tulane might be the best options but ESPN might have to agree to put more money on the table.

We are getting closer to having a few questions answered.
