Barring unforeseen circumstances this weekend, I think we all agree that Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Washington will be the 4 finalists.

I have a thought on how the final rankings could play out.

1 Alabama vs 4..........Clemson. In Atlanta.

2 Ohio State vs 3 Washington in Glendale, AZ.

Why? How? The committee can justify jumping UW over Clemson by them beating a highly ranked Colorado team whereas Clemson beat a non ranked Va Tech team. Also, Clemson's "best" wins (L'ville, FSU and Auburn) don't look all that impressive.

But....the real reason. Clemson played in Glendale, AZ in the National Title game last year. Will their fans want to make that trip again. Whereas Atlanta is a short drive. At the same time, UW is a West Coast team and haven't been on the national scene and likely will easily sell out its allotment. And Ohio State is just crazy and has the largest fanbase of any college team not named Notre Dame.

Don't think this doesn't come into play. It is not that big of a tragedy, and logistically it makes alot of sense.

-Many people disagree with that. Articles all over the place that disagree with it. People that post on the CFB main board disagree with it. And the rulebook disagrees with it.

-The team that should be out is Washington. The best team they played in the non conference schedule was Rutgers. Their resume sucks, and they have the worst strength of schedule over anyone.

Oh okay, the people who post on the main page of the CFB board disagree with it. Wow. That's good enough for me. Toolbox.

-Perhaps you didnt watch the CFB selection show when they said Michigan, a team that has lost 2 of its last 3 games and a team where the wheels completely fell off the car, was razor thin behind Washington and they were seeded 5th. IF Penn State wins the Big Ten Title, Penn State is going to vault all of them IF they stick to the rulebook IF Penn State gets a 2nd win over a Top 5 team in the country.

-TCU ranked 3rd in 2014. Fell to 6th the next week after winning by 50. Same should apply here.

LOL. You are on here spouting off to someone else about popular opinion? You are on here spouting off to someone else about the committee and their rankings? Just a couple weeks ago you tried to tell everyone that PSU would jump Ohio State if they won the B1G. You cited a couple of talking heads and ignored the overwhelming majority AND the committee's rankings and comments that clearly said OSU was far, far ahead of PSU and there was 0 chance PSU would jump OSU. Now, the committee has made that abundantly clear. OSU is in without any doubt whatsoever. PSU is likely out, even if Washington or Clemson lose because Michigan will go.

-Ill wait for the Final Ranking. And I could make you look like jackass and list links left and right to prove you wrong. Even the Big Ten network today said Ohio State is no where near a lock, yet, because of conference championships carrying the most weight, as they should.

I'll be at the semi final in ATL and hopefully the NC in Tampa. I'd love for this scenario to play out and Washington beat OSU. Tickets in Tampa would be dirt cheap.

So you quoted the committee's comments earlier, but now you don't use them because they show you were 100% wrong? The committee openly said PSU isn't even close to OSU and isn't close to Michigan.

-The Conference Championship games have not been played, the end.

You realize there is no rulebook, right?

I love that you quote a source in one post and then disregard that same source when it hurts your argument in the next post. It is just wonderful.

-There is only a website with a big long faq outlining the entire procedure and selection process for every fan to see.

-Like I said, go away

That isn't a rulebook and the only listed outline for selection criteria is as follows: "The selection committee chooses the four teams for the playoff based on strength of schedule, head-to-head results against common opponents, championships won and other factors."

Even in their original protocol the most it says is: "Strength of schedule, head-to-head competition and championships won must be specifically applied as tie-breakers between teams that look similar." And the committee has come out and said OSU and PSU don't look similar and it isn't even close between the two, thus those tiebreakers don't even come into play, if we are using your quoted site.

You can't just make shit up in every single thread and not get called out on it.

-If Penn State beats a Top 5 Team in a Conference title game, Ill wait for the committee to blatantly say the resumes "arent close" Lets see if Penn State wins, if they actually have the balls to make that statement on live tv.

Dude, you are not right much.

-Let's have a board vote on the number of threads I should bump to prove just how right I have been. Within the last 12 months... I guaranteed last year pitt basketball was an NCAA tournament lock preseason. I guarantee the pens would win the Stanley cup. I guaranteed Pitt would beat Penn state and win 8+ games. I guarantedd Matt Canada was a slam dunk grand slam upgrade over Jim Chaney. I said Moss would overtake ollison and hall on the depth chart last summer. Which thread do you propose I bump first? I also gave a full out Pitt game by game record prediction, and was 7-1 in my picks.

Then you should be very comfortable taking my bet.

Since you're always right, and all.

Let's lower the stakes. $100 bet.... OSU makes the playoff, you pay me. They miss the playoff, I pay you.

Since you think the PSU/Wisc winner will jump OSU.

-They should jump them per the rules, that does not mean they will jump them. And the way it is set up right now, Penn State and OSU should both get in over Washington if PSU wins Saturday. And I don't bet on people's opinions, that's idiotic. This is a beauty pageant type selection process of which team looks sexy for TV ratings. Although the championship games have not been played, so the current seeding mean nothing.

There. are. no. rules.

There are loose guidelines that the committee follows, but it is a completely SUBJECTIVE decision that they will make.

Conference championships are one factor.... but ONLY one... in making their decision.

They have told you what they think with their penultimate ratings. They told you that Alabama and OSU are in... Clemson and Washington are in if they win.... and that Michigan is in if one of Clemson or Washington lose.

Only if *BOTH* Washington and Clemson lose will Wisconsin or PSU make it.

Members of the committee have even come out and said that the gap between Washington and Michigan is razor thin... but the gap between OSU and PSU is not close at all.

There's no scenario where PSU makes it over OSU. *NONE*. The committee has basically already told us that.

That's why the game is played now isn't it Penn State beats Wisconsin by 50 and wins the big ten you don't think perspective would change in that scenario? 2 years ago Ohio state beat Wisconsin 59-0. See how things change. The season is far from over. TCU, 3rd to 6th in 1 week after TCU won by 50. Seeya after Saturday results.

If PSU beat Wisconsin by 50, they might jump Washington if Washington wins close.

But there's no scenario in which Ohio State is NOT in.

Therefore, there's no scenario in which PSU is in and OSU is not.

-so your opinion has now changed because I changed your perspective. That was simple.

Absolutely nothing in my opinion has changed.

I said from the start there is ZERO chance that PSU makes it in ahead of OSU. That was the premise for my bet offer with you and it still is.

There is ZERO chance that PSU makes it in ahead of OSU..... no matter what happens this weekend.

Don't think this doesn't come into play. It is not that big of a tragedy, and logistically it makes alot of sense.

It would make sense from a geographical standpoint but for competitive reasons they won't and shouldn't do it.

Ohio State may have the best fanbase in all of American sports. They bring at least 40K to the Fiesta. Clemson badly outnumbered Alabama fans last year and with the NC driveable in Tampa, I dont see any reason why Clemson doesn't bring 20K-30K.

An OSU-Clemson Fiesta Bowl would sell out.

Everyone seems to conveniently forget that juxtaposing the resumes of Baylor, TCU and tOSU a few years ago, each team had a single loss. I guarantee if tOSU had two losses as opposed to one, they likely remain out of the playoff picture.

Everyone keeps mentioning a second Top 5 win... Wisconsin is 6th. I know, just outside but not Top 5. Beating Wisconsin is essentially no different than beating an 8th ranked Colorado for Washington.

If Clemson wins, VT likely remains in the Top 25, allowing for a fourth win over a Top 25 team for Clemson. I believe that's more than anyone outside of Alabama.

Again: THERE ARE NO RULES! You are 100% wrong in stating there are rules or a rulebook.

You are wrong and spewing lies in essentially every thread on this site. Unbelievable.

Completely false. It was (at most) 60/40 and probably more like 55/45. And, yes, I was there.

@steel_curtain how you doing, buddy? You really nailed this one. Ohio State is #3 and deservingly so. It was never in doubt.

Steel loves to come and brag when he's right, but he never, ever comes to face the music when he's wrong.

He's just a blowhard who throws as much crap at the wall as possible. Sometimes it sticks. Usually it doesn't.

In fact, I'm going to go bump the thread where he said Pitt hoops would finish in the top 5 in the ACC.
