Barring unforeseen circumstances this weekend, I think we all agree that Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Washington will be the 4 finalists.
I have a thought on how the final rankings could play out.
1 Alabama vs 4..........Clemson. In Atlanta.
2 Ohio State vs 3 Washington in Glendale, AZ.
Why? How? The committee can justify jumping UW over Clemson by them beating a highly ranked Colorado team whereas Clemson beat a non ranked Va Tech team. Also, Clemson's "best" wins (L'ville, FSU and Auburn) don't look all that impressive.
But....the real reason. Clemson played in Glendale, AZ in the National Title game last year. Will their fans want to make that trip again. Whereas Atlanta is a short drive. At the same time, UW is a West Coast team and haven't been on the national scene and likely will easily sell out its allotment. And Ohio State is just crazy and has the largest fanbase of any college team not named Notre Dame.
Don't think this doesn't come into play. It is not that big of a tragedy, and logistically it makes alot of sense.
