On 97.7 TU broadcasters discussing if TU Rhule would take Pitt job when Narduzzi leaves for BiG or wait for a "top" job. They seem to think Narduzzi is a likely move on after bowl.
I have no real insight and maybe they don't either.

I guess until we pay Narduzzi 5 mil a year, we should just get used to this noise year after year.

-If our Coach says flat out he doesnt care about money but cares about location and relationships, in not 1 but multiple interviews, I believe him. Narduzzi isnt going anywhere. 3 Colleges total in 14 years say he is stable. The same with Matt Canada. These guys dont bounce around from college to college, so your temple guys can rest easy, Rhule isnt coming here.

Yep. Temple broadcasters are the ultimate authority on the Pitt coaching situation.

That's how I look at it too. Of course people are going to look at Pitt as a steppingstone job. That's exactly what it has been in recent years.

If you want to play at the highest level, you have to pay like your competitors do. That's just how it works.

I don't think Narduzzi (or Canada) is going anywhere just yet. It would not be in his best interest to leave this soon in his Pitt tenure. He can accomplish a lot more here and he knows it.

However, we are eventually going to reach a point where the rubber meets the road and we're going to have to pony up to keep him... and that is in a best case scenario.

Just repeated what I heard. But Harry Donahue isn't small time radio in the 5th largest radio/TV market. The one specific team one of the 3 mentioned was Purdue. I doubt it but it was talk.

Only way he leaves would be for Michigan State or possibly Notre Dame and they are not open at this time.

"And when they tell you it's not about the money....."
Nowhere is that adage more true than in college athletics. If you ain't in it for the money, you ain't gonna be in it for long.
The again, the Easter Bunny is real.

I guess the real question is what do Temple broadcasters know about Duzz or anything else for that matter.

maybe he actually likes being at pitt, and really wants to build a program
He does. You don't stay the top defensive coordinator for 7 Years, or 10, or 20 years etc.. if you do not like it. You couldn't pay me 10 mil a year to live in the southeast. I hate it down there.

The only city with sportscasters with less knowledge of college sports than pittsburgh is Philadelphia

Since I watched the game on TV, I wondered which Harry (Donahue or Mayes) made the comment. Mayes would have had some credibility, but anyone who has ever listened to Donahue do play-by-play would have paid him no mind. Guy makes HillBilly sound like Ray Scott in comparison.

PN not going anywhere. There is an agreement that when he gets to 10 wins he will get a raise. Not going back to MS or to ND..

There is only one thing that really concerns me. Pitt football is always going to be a relative afterthought in this town, and with that huge neon yellow seated stadium, it is always going to be a bad look. I am just worried a coach, any coach would eventually get frustrated with this.

It might, with emphasis on might, be possible that the Temple coach could consider Purdue to be a step up. He'd be foolish to do so, but if one were enamored with losing in the Big Ten you could at least see how it was possible.

On the other hand, anyone who thinks that Purdue is a better job than Pitt is a flat out moron.

I asked about this on the Temple board and was told that the comment was indeed made, but it didn;t come from Donahue. Instead, it came from one of the hosts of the talk show that came on after the post-game wrapup. The guy wasn't identified, but I doubt that whomever it was would know Pat Narduzzi from Pat Benatar,

I have to think Rhule ranks higher than Narduzzi on the list most ADs keep in their desk drawers.
