This program has been a laughing stock for a while now. No one thought they’d finish in the top half of the ACC let alone be leading the conference with only 6 games left Barring some unforeseen collapse they should finish at least 4-2 to give them 16 conference wins. Incredible Question, in the last few years what program had a bigger turnaround than Pitt is having now ?
What makes it extra enjoyable (for me at least). Is that as they keep on winning and getting no respect in the polls and other silly ranking systems (Nil) it draws more attention from the media and expenses how silly the polls and these systems are I hope they continue to get snubbed as it provides more fuel to the fire. The only thing that matters is getting in the NCAA and making a nice run. Well that and doing well in the ACC
This is the kind of year that could serve as a turning point for the program. Capel has established a great culture of team first and a really entertaining style do basketball. If he and his staff play their cards right they can continue to attract the same kind of kids It’s somewhat like the JD teams that were not littered with blue chip players but had talented players who bought into the system and culture The culture and style of play should be very attractive to talented players (portal and Hs). This really could be a spring board for a really nice run for the program
For now though it’s just a pleasure to watch and enjoy each game. As Pitt fans we haven’t had a lot of moments like this so take in in
