All that most of the Cult REALLY cares about is Paterno. And so they will focus on the allegations against Paterno -- as always, using words like 'alleged' and 'unproven' -- and ignore most of the rest.

But while the new evidence makes Paterno's guilt even more clear, it really was much more than him. Not only were there multiple first hand witnesses of Sandusky's crimes, including multiple coaches, kids were threatened to keep their mouths shut. The story of the kid who was ordered to write a letter of apology to Sandusky was gut-wrenching.

I'm sickened all over again.

Let the Cult continue to deny, deny, deny. Every time one of them speaks or writes a defense of Paterno or the program, they only bring more embarrassment and ridicule onto that university.

In compiling his report, Williams was given access to information about Penn State’s settlements. This is confidential information, and in addition to citing two more widely known incidents (including that witnessed by Mike McQueary), the report appears to have unearthed four new cases that were not publicly known:
  • A 1976 incident where one alleged victim made a report to Joe Paterno.
  • A 1987 instance of improper sexual contact between Sandusky and a minor that was witnessed by then-assistant coach Joe Sarra.
  • A 1988 instance of improper sexual contact between Sandusky and a child that was witnessed by then-assistant coach Kevin O’Dea.
  • A 1988 incident, the report of which was referred to then-athletic director Jim Tarman.

So if you’re an unwavering JoPa supporter, do you:

1. Call these new reports lies because they have to be.

2. Double-down on distraction with “yeah but look at the GOOD he did.”

3. Be an adult and admit being wrong. It’s ok. It happens to all of us. Joe may not have been totally evil and all the good stuff he did isn’t meaningless, but this is a massive black stain on his life and legacy and a great example why admiring someone’s positive qualities can be good but unconditional worship is insanely dangerous and patently dishonest.

Ha, just kidding. You only have to pick between 1 or 2.

A man identified in court documents as John Doe 75 testified that, in 1987, when he was a 13-year-old boy, an assistant coach at Penn State witnessed Sandusky with his hand down the boy’s shorts and did nothing. The boy and Sandusky were alone in a coaches’ meeting room, and Sandusky was touching the boy, Doe testified, when assistant coach Joe Sarra walked into the meeting room. Startled, Sarra, immediately left and closed the door behind him, and Sandusky kissed the boy on his forehead, Doe 75 testified.

It's like the German citizens, only when they were made to tour the concentration camps did the atrocities finally sink in.

Yes, it can happen, eventually. A few Cult members can break away. One cult member may have allowed a bit of light in today. From BWI this morning:
I know, I know, I thought I would never say this, but I am moving on. I know Joe did nothing wrong, but I also accept that it is what it is. He is going to be tarnished forever. The university isn't going to honor him, and they are going to distance themselves more after this. But what bugs me is the fact that a part of me keeps thinking to myself what if this is true. I think a part of me died today.
