its official. Pinstripe

I agree we might as well ask for a extra home game. How rewarding is playing football in Maryland or new York in December ?
Cardiac hill stated its because of pitt's past travel history.
Thats bull and total disrespect to the team by bowl committees.

It's not bull. It's a direct result of our failure to sell tickets in the past.

I've got a great solution for our problem of not being picked for better bowls due to our failure to sell tickets. Let's continue to bitch about every bowl bid we receive and refuse to buy tickets! That will really show the bowl committees!

Pitt won't start getting good bowls until they start getting fans at the shit ones. Whine all you like but it's the truth.

Thrilled that Pitt is going to NY for bowl game. It's great fans can drive to NY. Can't believe some people are complaining about the location. We have our tickets and driving from NC to the game. It should be great fun. Go Pitt.
So for you its all about what works for you, if it was a 8 - 4 Iowa team ok, but to be matched with a 6 - 6 northwestern team is disappointment no matter where they play

Who screwed us? What committee? Do some of you even know what you're talking about?
Yes Pitt law 04 there is a bowl selection committee, read up on it, you can use the education. Talk about not knowing what you're talking about, look in the mirror

The only way to get to better bowls is travel better or win more. I think we will do both. This is a good bowl in a good location. Can't sleep on Northwestern. Luckily we know Narduzzi won't (where prior coaches may have).

Not really. There are committees for each bowl. There's not one big committee except for the playoff. So which committee do you think screwed us? The sun bowl committee?

Yet somehow other fan bases don't complain and find their way to the games.
And you know this how? Particularly the bit about not complaining. All fan bases are pretty similar...they want to play in a bowl where there's really something to be gained by winning. It's about excitement.., nothing profound about this

I always buy the tickets so I have every right to complain... Been to a slew of these third tier games... yawn... but I go. Your premise that the only people complaining are those who don't attend the games is wrong

Do you really want to take the position that Pitt sells as many bowl tickets or isn't more negative than other fan bases? Because on those two scores, Pitts fan base isn't pretty similar to everyone else.

Yeah if you say so.

But one doesn't need to read this board for long to know that you complain about EVERYTHING!!!

It's just what you do.

My position is that all fans complain .. not just Pitt fans. I also firmly believe that Pitt's second class treatment isn't linked exclusively to past bowl game attendance- we haven't been to a bowl game that meant anything in decades so I don't know how you can fairly make any inference about Pitt fan bowl game attendance from this track record-but is a by product of playing in a southern centric conference that will screw Syracuse , Pitt and BC ALWAYS!

This is not complicated. Until last year, when Pitt fans made a 4.5 hour drive (for many, and even less for a great many others) to Annapolis attendance at bowl games has been horrid.

Pitt fans themselves have had opportunities to go to games in warmer weather. They don't. We didn't even make a dent in our allotment for the Fiesta Bowl. But they made a statement that games within driving range are in play.

Here's why it's actually a GOOD decision by the athletic department. There will be more Pitt fans there than if we played in the RAB because many will be able to get in and out by means other than flying, therefore it's less expensive. Higher attendance means that Pitt will be forced to eat fewer tickets. Eating fewer tickets means more profit. More profit for the Athletic Department is good.

Happy to help.

There's at least three problems with your points. One, the bowl games that are rejecting us are exactly the ones you claim are meaningless like the sun bowl where we played before so even by your own admission they shouldn't expect any attendance from us because they are meaningless. No wonder they don't pick us.

Second, if games like the sun or tax slayer are meaningless then why are you complaining that we didn't get invited to them?

Third, we had this same problem with getting rejected by bowls when we were in the Big east. Which most certainly wasn't a southern centric league. Yet bowls still didn't want us because we don't travel and it really says something that our traveling fan base was viewed as weak in the BE which was a league consisting of small fan bases.

Does that settle this or do you want to try again?

Pitt fans always have an excuse.

"I wanted Iowa!" Pitt fans may be the only people in the US with a preference in regards to Medocre Fat 10 teams.

"I wanna go somewhere warm!" - yeah well, look at our turnout for the 2000 insight, 2001 tangerine and 2002 insight and you'll see not many others did.

"It's in a baseball stadium!!" Look at the bright side: you won't be as high up as Clemson.

For all of you not liking the bowl game I suggest that you look inward toward AD Barnes ( boy wonder) who most of you thought was a great hire?

He alone is 90% responsible for the bowl game selection!

Go ask him why. Oh yes while you're with him ask him who his basketball coach splash hire were other than Stallings.

These are the same types of bowls we got in the Big East because we don't travel. It's why we were bumped from the Gator Bowl for WVU all those times. Barnes can't make the fan base but tickets and show up, which is all of the bowl selection game past the four teams in the playoff.

When you make comments like Barnes is 90 percent responsible for the bowl selection you lose credibility. It's just not a serious argument.

This should be called the SLEEPY WISCONSIN BOWL, and he should coach both teams, and we can all nap for 4 hours
