Third team all ACC.

I thought Leggett might at least make honorable mention, but no.

Lowe also finished tied for 4th in the most improved player race.

Austin was a distant 4th for defensive player of the year, and made the all defensive team.

Shockingly, Jeff Capel did not even get one vote for coach of the year. Scandalous!

It's mostly the way he was used, but Lowe was worse this year than last year.
I think he clearly demonstrated this year that he can't be the focus of the offense, and he can't be the guy with the ball in his hands with a few seconds left on the shot clock. Unlike most people on here, I hope he stays.

Unfortunately, the only way Lowe will be put in a position to succeed is if Capel finds someone else he'd rather run his one-dimensional offense through, because I don't think that person is on the roster currently.

The harsh criticism of Jaland needs to simmer down. Good kid. He would be a stand out at a lower level. Too slight of build. Not really a P4 point guard. Does distribute very well. Good athlete, but not quite P4 and definitely not NBA and maybe not even European pro. If Capel is a good mentor, he needs to have a heart to heart with Jaland and tell him these things. We can keep him and let him assume a Sibande (sp?) type role, but using him as the centerpiece of the team was Capel’s biggest mistake and may cost him his job. Even Coach K cr Calipari could not have squeezed a .500 ACC record this year. The talent level was just not there. I’m not defending Capel and he is just punching the time clock at Pitt because of the life contract. The Pitt-Capel marriage is sustained only by money now.

You really think a Hall of Fame coach couldn't have managed to beat 2 of the following teams with our roster this year:
  • FSU
  • UVA
  • GT
  • ND
  • NCST
There were some enormous skill gaps on this team (see rebounding), but their biggest issue was their inconsistency. I'm pretty sure Coach K would have them playing closer to how they played against Louisville, Clemson, BC, etc in every game instead of just occasionally.

This is a tournament team with a decent coach IMO, and definitely one with a .500 record or better in a below average major conference.

The record doesn’t lie.

The record doesn’t lie.
What on earth does that mean?

Their record was 8-12. They beat UVA at home and the second worst team in the ACC on the road and they're at .500. Or just hold serve at home.

You can't create a theoretical scenario with an outstanding coach and then defend it with the results produced by a mediocre coach.

Could not achieve a .500 ACC record? Almost any competent coach would have achieved that or better.

The kid needs to hit the weights and get a lot stronger. He’s a decent athlete but he needs to work harder on his quickness. There are obvious tools there but it seems to me he has a lot of work to do to be a good P4
Guard. Question is does he have the work ethic and does this staff have what it takes to help him get there
