There is not one member of the media who covers PSU who isn't also a huge PSU fan. With Pitt, it is an "assignment" for the media, for PSU, "it is oh boy, we get free tickets fanboy reaction" for the media.

True. Batko's beat coverage of Pitt reads like someone who is just going through the motions. Molinari is probably the least fan boy they have had on Psu but still not asking hard questions. Seriously how could you not dig a little into this Manny Bowen story? Anything remotely negative with psu is quickly glossed over.

When it comes to any negative story, they just don't have the resources to cover it. When it comes to good stories they send multiple people

What hard questions is he gonna ask? And what football coach is required to answer those questions?

From what I understand, he violated some team rules, got kicked from the team, but was given a series of conditions that would allow him to play again. It seems like he completed them.

No one knows what the suspension was for, or what the conditions were. And that's how almost every P5 program operates.

The only way you're gonna know a reason behind a suspension is if criminal activity is involved, since that shows up on the police beat, and the media picks that up very quickly.

Again, this kid will probably be a backup, for one more year. Who really cares? All coaches administer depth-chart justice. Every single one. Bookser was in handcuffs and got one game. I think we all know that Peterman and Conner would have had very long leashes, not that they would have needed them, since they were solid citizens. Nevertheless, we intuitively know that this would have been true.

There's a lot of stuff that goes on that deserves examination and criticism. Letting a senior backup back on the team isn't one of them.

FWIW

1 - Bowen missed Rose Bowl for curfew violations in SoCal that week (this was pretty common knowledge at the time)
2 - Strike two suspension last year was another violation of team rules. IE, was never about a legal matter. He knew when booted he had a window open to return but Franklin wasn't going to put him on the roster until he completed his checklist, the earliest possible point being the start of summer camp. Optics may not look great but real story isn't all that interesting.

to tell you the truth, I really don't care the reasons. My point is the Pittsburgh media just kind of glossed over it where if it happened here there would be an in-depth investigation into the reason why Narduzzi reinstated a twice suspended player. I'm all for second chances so if Manny really turned things around great for him and look forward to seeing him play at Heinz.

Evidently strike two was sleeping through a test or skipping a certain class when warned about attendance. So, he got the boot until he got more serious about his classes. No biggie, but it was strike two so he got the hammer

Also doesn’t hurt that LB group was a little thin.

ah, a realist, I get it now.
Cult members are taught to believe the "Real" truth is that anything PSU is positive (including coaches diddling little boys, and other coaches overlooking it, and anything involving Pitt is negative.

Further, it's their appointed duty to make sure big, bad Pitt fans know the "truth".

Would be more relevant if this just popped up over the summer and they brought him back. That he never enrolled anywhere else after being removed from the roster seems pretty clear that he and Franklin thought it realistic he'd be back.

Easy bud. I’m kidding. I’m all for giving kids a shot at redemption.

It's all good....i get the optics and the LB situation, but not entirely sold that Bowen is going to be a significant addition to roster. He has experience, yes, but there are 2 true freshman (Parsons/Luketa) that are better athletes. Of course, they come with their own ?s.

Its called an unhealthy obsession.
Bullshit

This is funny as hell and was definitely about the humor and not obsession

PSU coach looks like a joke of a jackass at media day ... let’s NOT mention it because we are obsessed with not looking obsessed???

Please

The nitter posters have done a better job of giving us their best spin on the situation. There's no way to tell if it's close to the truth.
Go back to BWI you Nitter troll. All you ever do is post about PSU, you're such a Nitter troll just go back to their board already. Post about Pitt or dont post at all, troll.
