I have been pleasantly surprised with this offense. Kudos to Michael Young - he is playing like an All-American. He shows the whole package - tenacious on the boards, drives to the hoop, and showing a nice jumper. Artis hasn't played to his potential but Jamie will get him straightened out soon. The rest of the team shows no hesitation on the offensive end - if the shot is there, they take it! Jeter and Jones at times are overly aggressive but we can live with that once in a while.

But make no mistake about, James Robinson is the catalyst. Love it when we get the board on the defensive end and the ball is pitched out to him - HE IS ATTACKING BIG TIME. And in the set offense, he constantly makes the right pass, hits the open jumper, and drives to the hoop when we need him. This is a big turnaround from we saw his first three years. Also, he is playing very good defense. Not the fastest defender, but uses his strength very well.

Robinson's backup, Young Mr Wilson, is also going to be fun to watch in the next few years.

Glad to see Odo have a decent game today. He and Maia are starting to fit very nicely into their roles - defense, rebound and pass well.

We are going to have some ups and down in January and February, but it should be a fun ride.

Quite possibly the most under valued Panther of all time.

"This is a big turnaround from we saw his first three years"

-Massive turnaround. He looks real good this year so far.

I thought we would see this from him last year.
The program tends to see guys hit this kind of stride their third year, like Young this year.
IDK, anxious to see if he can keep it up as the competition level increases.

IMHO, the reason we didn't see this from him before was twofold--

1. Lack of effective outside 3-point and long 2-point shooters last year--especially at the 2G--which made it easier for opponents to focus on stopping him from getting open shots and probably made him try to do too much exacerbating the problem.
2. Nagging foot/ankle injury (ies) that slowed him down and impacted his shot.

had thought in addition to the normal junior year bump, he had gotten worn to a nub his first two seasons because of his participation with the U19 team, and minus that he would be fresher last season. So, maybe he was dinged up more than I thought.

Smith APPEARS to be a pretty big upgrade at 2G, which can't hurt.

My biggest beef with him has been mental, frankly. He has his physical limits, it just is what what it is. But, I thought he was far to passive and lacking in confidence last year, and also tended to fog out too much.
