This has been released and discussed already by multiple sources. He had a bunch of deferred compensation and bonuses vest last year.

His base salary at Pitt was $1.4MM and his usual annual compensation was between $2.2MM and $2.5MM after taking bonuses and incentives into account.

He was making nowhere near $3+MM annually and about half of his compensation in a normal year was tied to incentives and bonuses.

-Do you have the 990 for the last 5 years? Im interested in looking at them. It looks like it was 3.3 and 3.2. Id like to get a 5 year average, I think that would be a round number.

Sam Werner looked it up when the TCU stuff came out, mentioned that the tax returns for the 2014-15 season haven't been released yet. What he posted was Dixon made:

2014: ~$3.2MM
2013: ~$2.4MM
2012: ~$2.1MM
2011: ~$1.8MM

University hasn't filed last year's tax return yet. That compensation is from the school's first year in the ACC, which was a solid season overall.

2012-2.6 Million
2013-2.2 Million
2014-3.3 Million
2015-3.2 Million

That's 2.825 Million over a 4 year run. That puts him at 11th over a 4 year average, unless Im missing something.

Zeise also said on his blog that in looking through Dixon's tax documents he would consider Dixon's annual compensation to be around $2.6MM at this point (with a $1.5MM base salary):

"Dixon’s compensation last year was $3.2 million but there were some bonuses in that. From what I can tell from reading through his tax documents, his compensation package annually is closer to $2.6 million (his base salary is about $1.5 million)."

So, leaning conservatively, call it $2.6MM per year.

Those cant be right, cause Im looking at the numbers off the Pitt site.

-Tax form for the previous season. $3.3 Million, that put him in the Top 8 highest paid coaches in the entire country. Top 8 Money in the country, before the buyout. For anyone questioning if we have the money to cherry pick a good coach.

Then why are all these national college hoops douche bags saying we are the 759th best job??

Yeah, bonuses. Most coaches get a postseason bonus. Note "POSTSEASON".

So, if anyone is still wondering why Pitt played in the CBI and spent money on trips to Butler, and Pullman and opened their arena four or five times - well.....yeah.....
