No, my post was more tongue in cheek for those that called for our coach to be replaced by the great Jay Wright. I think both are great coaches for their schools. There's a reason this tournament is brutal and unforgiving...

Dixon doesn't deserved to be fired. At the same time, he isn't worth his current contract. There are plenty of coaches out there that can do as well as Jamie has the past 4 years. Its been 6 years since Pitt played past the round of 32. The trend here isn't good, and I don't see any reason to think there will be some kind of drastic improvement very soon.

if not winning it all is choking, there's not much room for error

Choking is 5th yr sr Cam Wright missing 3 meaningful foul shots down the stretch and short-arming knuckleball "jumpers" into the bottom of the rim when it matters--that's choking

Anyone who NC St take Pitt apart in round 1 of the ACC tourney, and beheld the improvement of the Kat, Anya, Lacey and the surfeit of talent, size and speed knew that if that team showed up tonight against 'Nova (not the NC St that got taken apart in round 2 of the ACC tourney) that the Cats (from Philly, not Kat) were in for a long nite.

The new Big East has same problems that most mid-majors have against the Power 5--they've got the guards, but don't match up inside (which was largely Pitt's problem this year)

Pitt has been trending downward since they won their last two mythical championships almost 90 years ago. Since the field was expanded to 64, Dixon has been part of almost 75% of the times that Pitt made the tournament. You can hate the results, but the odds to make the tournament are much greater with Dixon than any other Pitt coach. The team needs to improve, but would you rather take your chances with the next "hot" coach aka Evans or Willard? Or a coach that has won conference titles, a conference tournament & take his team to a #1 ranking?
