Jay Wright...

Wright has a fine understanding of what Nova BB is within the context of which conference they play in and what type of culture he wants and what type of players fit in his program.

Dixon/Howland started off being very much like that. However, Dixon lost his net when the program attained elite status and his recruiting seemed to fail to rise to elite status. He panicked and couldn't adapt. When we moved to the ACC, he seemed to be totally lost. I doubt we would've been much better if he had stayed.

I don't get the myth that Pitt not having a separate basketball practice facility is some disadvantage. Its practice facility is The Pete which is nicer than 95% of other team's facilities. Instead of having a separate practice gym and weightroon, its practice gym and weightroom are in the Pete. The weightroom needed updated and got it but its not an excuse that we are losing recruits because teams like WVU, Nova, Providence, Grown play games in decrepit arenas or off-campus but have separate practice gyms.
I don’t know what to tell you. A single court in the back gym of the Pete isn’t enough. There’s a reason they want to build a standalone facility adjacent to the Pete.

12 other ACC schools have standalone facilities, Clemson is similar to Pitt. BC announced they’re going to build one and are trying to get donors to fund it.

I think Dixon was really offended by being labeled as a defensive/system offense team. He tried to get away from that, and has at TCU but the results aren't nearly the same. He tried to be something he wasnt by going after what were supposed to be better athletes like your JJ Moore's, Durand Johnson's, and Khem Birch's but a lot of them didn't contribute much. He had to coach his ass off just to be on the bubble. I swear that last team he got in nearly killed him. He put every last drop of energy to get them into the tournament and barely.

Because all the others are old arenas who didnt build in a practice gym. Honestly, man, why would a kid care about having a separate building to practice in? Can we just put a wall between the Pete and back gym and call it a separate building? Maybe if we call it a separate building, the kids will start coming.

These teams are building separate gyms because their arenas dont have one. Period.
