I've lived in the Milwaukee area for nearly 3.5 years now since moving from NYC and catch Brewers Baseball on the radio from time to time commuting home from work. For the past few years he's split time with Bob Uecker calling games.
Bob in my opinion is a treasure to hear call a game, from his self depricating humor to his call of live action and home runs (Get up, Get Up, get outta here and Gone for ________ (name of brewer player)). Very large difference from listening to John Sterling call all the Yankees games and his Schtick, which I guess is driven by the market he resides in, as that got tired very fast!
Joe is very serviceable and has a good feel for the game and carrying it forward. Nothing distinctive to his calls, but what I liked best is he didn't try to "ESPN it" and be bigger than the game he was calling. He's very matter of fact and quick with his vamping should action cease. Hope he does well in Pittsburgh with what's currently a much better product of baseball than the schlock I see here in Milwaukee.
