Joe Block

This is old news. Still, I am just excited that Tim Neverett is gone. I HATED listening to that dude call games.

Over the past few years there have been a few times where one of the PxP announcers has been out and Rob King has filled in for them. I honestly think he has done extremely well in those instances. I wonder why they keep passing over him? Maybe he doesn't want it? It seems weird because he has done a very nice job when called upon and he knows the market, the team and his colleagues extremely well.

I've lived in the Milwaukee area for nearly 3.5 years now since moving from NYC and catch Brewers Baseball on the radio from time to time commuting home from work. For the past few years he's split time with Bob Uecker calling games.

Bob in my opinion is a treasure to hear call a game, from his self depricating humor to his call of live action and home runs (Get up, Get Up, get outta here and Gone for ________ (name of brewer player)). Very large difference from listening to John Sterling call all the Yankees games and his Schtick, which I guess is driven by the market he resides in, as that got tired very fast!

Joe is very serviceable and has a good feel for the game and carrying it forward. Nothing distinctive to his calls, but what I liked best is he didn't try to "ESPN it" and be bigger than the game he was calling. He's very matter of fact and quick with his vamping should action cease. Hope he does well in Pittsburgh with what's currently a much better product of baseball than the schlock I see here in Milwaukee.

Excellent point about rob king. I have wondered when hillgrove retires if king wouldn't get a chance. He does well for basketball in my opinion

In a former job I used to travel a lot. I always tell people that Milwaukee is one of the most underrated cities in America. It's like a miniature Chicago. I like it a lot! Louisville and Charlotte are two other cities that are MUCH nicer than people realize.

I would agree with you on all those cities.

I think there is something to this and I agree. He does a very nice job.

I would be absolutely shocked if Rob King wasn't the front-runner for the Pitt job should he be interested. But being interested is the key thing for him.

That said, he seems to love his studio gig a lot. He's on TV it seems almost every day, he gets to hang out at the ballpark and the hockey rink - but he doesn't have to leave his wife and maybe more importantly his children countless times for long road trips.

Methinks Mr. King might just like his life right now and i wouldn't blame him.
