Given a three year contract extension. I can only surmise that Pitt has decided that they aren't going to ever be a big winner in ACC baseball, so might as well stick with a known sub-mediocrity rather than take a chance on someone new who could be better or could be a disaster.

Jordano said, "Some of the things we are going to do from a recruiting perspective will protect us from the draft." Any thoughts as to what this means?
I'm guessing that means they are going to stay away from the high school prospects that could be drafted out of high school.
Wouldn't that translate roughly into, "we aren't going to recruit anyone who we think is actually going to be pretty good because they might get drafted instead"? And if he's seriously saying that, good god, why on earth would you want someone who thinks like that as your head coach.
You can oversign your class in the ACC, I believe. Not sure what it was like in the Big East, but some conferences do not allow it (Big Ten does not). That said, it's unlikely that Pitt will ever be affected to the degree that schools like UNC, FSU and UVA are. Those schools entire recruiting classes are kids that could be drafted out of high school. Not only that, with the draft slotting system the way it is there isn't the bonus money out there for big league teams to spend freely (like the Pirates who spent over $10m for a few years in a row back around 2010 and 2011 and gave high six-figure and seven-figure bonuses to low round draft picks).
I think Jordano is a pretty well-respected coach. I remember watching the only Pitt ESPN game ever against Louisville a few yeara ago and it was like a Jordano infomercial.
I think baseball people told Barnes that Joradno is fine but just needs better players. Barnes is a spender. Probably upped the recruiting budget and is giving 3-4 yeara with a greater emphasis on recruiting and a full allotment of scholarships to get it done.

I think he has had the full allotment for scholarships since ACC.
I fear this years team will be really bad.
