Join LaMont Wade at his commitment party

First of all, wow!

Second of all, this has to be some type of NCAA violation. If it isnt, it will be soon.

So he is inviting random people to a location in which money and who knows what else is going to be there. Hey - what could go wrong?

Funny cause my immediate thought was along those lines.

The money isn't the same but I had some friends who played underground poker before the casino was built. They weren't there when it happened but the wrong kind of people showed up one night and made off with a lot of money.

I thought I read the proceeds were going to a charity? Unfortunately, I can't find that information...

I admit... I got a long chuckle out of the article's google map shot of the venue and their comment about it not fitting 10,000 people.

IMO things have taken a serious turn for the worst!

I wish him, his family, friends, the U he selects, and all the losers attending this ridiculous event nothing but bad luck!

I thought Ryan said he was handling his recruiting maturely. This is not mature at all.

Surely that location set forth by USA Today is a cruel joke. If it's not, and that is really where it'll be, then that's even funnier.

I put the address in Google maps and got the same place as the USA Today got. So either Wade is pulling a joke with the address or Google Earth has a glitch or that is the real location of the big party.

Not a good look for him, obviously getting some bad advice. Sure hope he is successful at the next level to justify the hype. Then again he is just a HS kid so I find it hard to really bust on him too much. I doubt anyone is telling him no much these days.

this has to be a joke.. I thought at first it was something from the onion..

No it is not any kind of violation.

OK. Can Lamar Jackson throw a party, charge a $10 cover charge, have 1000 people show up and walk away with $10,000? Come on, this is obviously some sort of NCAA violation. You cannot make any money in any way based off of your athletic abilities or status as a D1 athlete or prospect.

I posted a few months ago that these type of "primadonna" recruits don't go to Pitt. Down-to-earth stars with good parenting, guys like Boyd and Whitehead, those are the kids we get. Guys like Wade and Dravon Henry, those types of players are "too big" in their own minds for Pitt.

I am not sure if "good parenting" plays into it....Wade seems to be a genuinely good kid and good student, so that lends himself to being a product of "good parenting". But you are onto something, I think when you have parents more enamored of how many people go to games, rather than the school, the program, the coaching, then yeah, we are doomed.
