Probably our QB next year

I'd take him in a heartbeat. I think Slovis in a 2nd year might be good as well but he just sucks at the RPO which limits the O too much. Jurkovec looks perfect for this O but both partial games of his that I saw this year, he was getting brutalized like no other QB I've ever seen and it looked like he was completely broken by it.

Worst case scenario with him is that he would have Patti's feet, Slovis' arm but with a slightly better grasp of the O than both had this season. The best case scenario isn't likely much better than the worst case or just standing pat.

Why ?
He’s a worse slovis

I first posted jurkovic to Pitt a couple weeks back. As usual like SMF my post was subject to ridicule. He is in the portal and according to my sources “ He is coming”

I'm compelled. idk who would win the starting job but I don't think Narduzzi would do the annoying two headed QB rotation, he'd pick a guy.

This is that relationship of the two kids in the neighborhood who always liked each other, but the girl wanted to date to football captain, then after they broke up, the dude had a hot girlfriend then they broke up and it is finally going to happen. It was inevitable.

Unfortunately, that girl you're talking about can throw a football better than Phil Jurkovec.

When do you expect Slovis to announce he is leaving. Does Patti have any eligibility left. He should start in our bowl`` game.

Wow I remember the board in full blown panic mode when we didn’t land this kid out of high school, I imagine the Pitt fans will be coming out of the woodwork in celebration if he comes here. Certainly a good qb, we still need more receivers

If Slovis is playing wishy-washy, you're going to have to pull the trigger one someone.

If that someone only has 1 year of eligibility, Phil is probably the guy because at least he knows and likes Cig's system.
Agreed. I’d be happy with Slovis returning for year 2. But if he leaves I’d rather have a QB that doesn’t reset the learning curve. Jurkovec seems to make the most sense based upon familiarity.

well he was a big time QB recruit coming out of high school. Fast forward to today and well we've seen him at the college level..

I would use Slovis leaving as a chance to claim a mulligan on the OC hire. If this is becoming college basketball anyway, you can't afford to having a learning curve. If the system really takes this long to understand, we need a new system. Sounds like QBs being here for multiple years could be few and far between. If they succeed, they'll transfer up. If they suck, they'll go someplace else.

Yeah, as much as I hated the kid, hard to admit when he has been healthy he has looked good. Yeah I guess I’d begrudgingly be pretty happy too.

Slovis is decent but certainly not someone you’d win a game with despite a poor defense

How about we find a guy (yarnell or some young transfer) instead of a guy that graduated in 2018

I would have to assume we'll be bringing in more than just one. Probably a guy to start next season and at least one guy to hopefully start getting ready for the future (be it a recruit or a young transfer).I mean, we'll be losing Slovis, probably Patti, Kyler... heck, do we even know if Yarnell is sticking around? He was 3rd on a depth chart that wasn't too great.

I think we'll have less talent next year at skill positions on offense, which is...not good. Our QB will have to do more. I do like Jurk's legs.

well we are losing Izzy and Wayne. our best WR and best RB. We arent getting a wr from the portal better than Wayne this year.. so yes, i think it's safe to say you are correct..

Yep. PJ represents the best option of a bad situation.

But we don’t need a bad situation. Realize the mistake in offensive philosophy and make a change.

I would have to assume the receiving corps will be better. Mumpfield and Means are probably back, and I think Wayne could be also (although not having a QB could influence that decision). Then you have to figure we'll add at least one portal guy and maybe one or two of the freshmen can contribute. It can't get much worse as a whole, I would think.

But yeah... losing Izzy won't be fun. He really bailed out an offense that couldn't do much at times.

No matter Narduzzi's preference, I think we'll need to throw for more yards. Wayne coming back would make that easier. I think Slovis could have a better year, and they found some success on PA quick slants, setting up slant and go's too. But if Slovis gets in his own head, Jurkovec is at least a decent RPO guy who can create some plays. Idk,I just don't want to be a run on 1st and 2nd throw on 3rd team without Izzy busting loose.

Don't want the guy here at all. He had a chance to play for the University of Pittsburgh coming out of high school and he and his family felt he was "too big" for the Pitt program..
Sorry, I'll take Kedon Slovis if he chooses to stay. That is even questionable because of the high school offense that cignetti runs.
