Pretty good run for an 11 loss 7 seed that had a very inconsistent season.Sparty goes home in tears.
Mr March came one shot and 15 seconds away from getting one of his lesser teams to the Elite 8.

He complimented his team on their effort and grit. Said they didn’t play their best and didn’t guard very well tonight but still almost got it done. Said when a guy heaves up a shot while falling to the floor at the end of the shot clock and banks it in for 3 it’s probably not your night.Perhaps complaining isn’t the right word, but he essentially said that Michigan State didn’t play well and some of K-State’s plays “weren’t big plays, they were lucky plays.”
Granted, he did give them *some* credit, but I just didn’t expect to hear those types of comments from him is all.
I found it funny that Izzo was still trumpeting the Big 10 as the best conference. He went on a rant about it.Perhaps complaining isn’t the right word, but he essentially said that Michigan State didn’t play well and some of K-State’s plays “weren’t big plays, they were lucky plays.”

My biggest criticism is calling them lucky, even if they were at times. A losing coach shouldn’t say anything that takes away from the opponent. I don’t think that was Izzo’s intention, but it can certainly be interpreted that way.He complimented his team on their effort and grit. Is your criticism that he wasn’t talking about KSU enough in his interview? He had a long moment with Tang in the handshake line and obviously said a lot of really complimentary things to him. So I think you’re off base here.

Do any teams in the Big 10 feature a lot of good shooters? PSU made it to the Big 10 championship game because they could shoot. My guess is that Izzo wasn't used to facing many hot shooters so when he faces a team that can actually shoot, he attributes it to luck.My biggest criticism is calling them lucky, even if they were at times. It’s definitely subjective, and I’m fine with anyone who sees it differently. Just my opinion.
Doesn't Michigan State shoot 3s at a very high %?Do any teams in the Big 10 feature a lot of good shooters? PSU made it to the Big 10 championship game because they could shoot. yeah that's it. 28 year head coach who has been to 8 final fours was confounded and unprepared when facing a team that would be 8th in the B10 this year in 3 point shooting percentage.Do any teams in the Big 10 feature a lot of good shooters? When did this occur? Not last night.I found it funny that Izzo was still trumpeting the Big 10 as the best conference. He went on a rant about it.
This was in his post-game press conference last night:When did this occur? Not last night.
That's why I asked the question, I didn't know the answer and could only surmise. I agree that Nowell was incredible. I do know from watching Massoud--and I admit it's a very small sample size of what I have seen from him--is that he can get hot and his ability to hit shots majorly contributed to his team prevailing on multiple occasions against Pitt and last night.yeah that's it. 28 year head coach who has been to 8 final fours was confounded and unprepared when facing a team that would be 8th in the B10 this year in 3 point shooting percentage.
When a guy heaves up a desperation 3 point shot while stumbling to the floor and taking 4 steps to do it, and it banks in, that's luck. Izzo was just being honest, just as he was when he said his team didn't guard very well in that game. Many of Nowell's dimes were to guys coming off baseline screens completely unguarded for easy layups and dunks. MSU was late in its switches and rotations, especiually Hauser who looked lost defensively and was responsible for several of those uncontested dunks.
What Izzo didn't see in the B10 this year is a PG like Nowell. But nobody else in any other conference has seen that either. He's incredbile.
Yes - It occurred last night. When did this occur? Not last night.
Aside from that, why wouldn't he plug the league he has coached in for the past 30 years, as the most prominent and accomplished coach in it? What's he supposed to say as the dean of the B10, my league sucks? I wish it could be as good as the mighty ACC?
Yup He may have been a bit over the top on the lucky thing but he wasnt wrong. KsT had a number of prayers answered. He complimented his team on their effort and grit. What's he supposed to say as the dean of the B10, .....uh, nothing. Who said he is required to say anything when that anything is incorrect? As the Lincoln quote that is often applied to me goes..Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubtWhen did this occur? Not last night.

Makes sense to me. After all, they’re in Manhattan.Interesting that KSt has 3 really good players from Harlem and a bench guy from Queens. Reminds me of those Iowa State teams Hoiberg bought from NYC.
Dumb take. The guy is the face of his league. Being a PR spokesman for it comes with the territory. What's he supposed to say as the dean of the B10, .....uh, nothing. Nowell might be from NYC but he went to high school in NJ!Interesting that KSt has 3 really good players from Harlem and a bench guy from Queens. Reminds me of those Iowa State teams Hoiberg bought from NYC.

Here's a comprehensive list of people in the college basketball world who don't respect Izzo and think he's a fool:
Never said Izzo was a fool. I said he is under no requirement to say something that was not true (not enough lipstick out there for an 8 bid one sweet sixteen team pig of a league) matter what his status or legacy is....I think you would make old Abe proud as the proof of his theorem.Dumb take. The guy is the face of his league. Being a PR spokesman for it comes with the territory.
