Kante Gone

Maybe he does have an eye for talent. What does it say now for any talented players if they see that Capel is a poor coach? Do they want to come to Pitt to be poorly coached or not utilized properly? I doubt they would.
Right now, money is the motivating factor for these kids, along with opportunity/playing time. Most of them aren't going to be playing professionally. So, Capel's in-game acumen is probably low on their list of concerns. I doubt they are even inquiring about or investigating that.

Good point. I'm sure none of the kids Capel is getting or going to get or anyone on this team will ever play more than college ball. Maybe one will go to Europe at some point.

The Papa Kante situation leaves a bad taste. He worked hard to come back from the injury but was rewarded only with token playing time on a team that was in no danger of becoming even remotely competitive as the season wore on. Reminds me of the Nick Patti situation in that the coaches never trust gave him a fair shot at proving that he could start and do at least a decent job on a below average team. It would have been one thing to make him ride the pine if we had been a good team but to make him sit the entire season on a poor team borders on being mean spirited.

What is wrong with us? Pitt is better than that.

So which is it re: Papa? Didn’t take long to talk out of both sides.

If it’s telling that he couldn’t beat out either of the twins, why’s it troubling that they couldn’t retain him?

You’re on an SMF level of outdoing yourself.
Means he wasn’t ready to get PT last season , it takes time to fully recover from his knee injury . I would’ve like to see him stay he had some potential .

The last time I looked you need more than 5 players .

The troubling part to me is that I understand losing guys who
1) can get a far better payday ….Lowe
2) guys not receiving any PT …Bridges
3) guys being recruited over ….none

What I don’t like to see is guys who were seeing PT ( the twins ) and those with the potential to play a bigger role next yr leave (Papa and Amsal ) . It seems to me there was some dissatisfaction behind the scene that we are not privy too .

Both Kante and Patti were good team players.
