This is a young team with glaring weaknesses and we all knew this . Any W’s for this team is an accomplishment, but expecting them to beat up on teams like Louisville and Cuse is being a little too optimistic. Enjoy the W’s when they come , and when far more talented teams beat up on the Panthers remember this is just the beginning . More importantly what we’ve learned is that JC can coach , we knew he was a very good recruiter . When he has enough time to assemble the roster he needs Pitt will be right there with the Louisville’s of the world . My guess is two yrs , but there will be plenty of W’s to enjoy . Keep the faith .

I don't think anyone doubts the future looks promising.....I just think people would like to see the high end of what's possible this year.....We were in this game and could have won......

I did not think we’d have 2 ACC wins at the point. I figured about 4 overall wins in the ACC. The back half of the conference schedule is a lot easier.

I don’t think anyone with reasonable expectations has lost faith.

The second half today was a bit dissapointing in the it was the first time we saw the teams compete level not be off the charts like it has.

Having said that winning on the road is incredibly difficult in the ACC against any team. Doing it against a Prettu good team that Pitt beat a few weaks ago was a tall order

It’s funny. This grroup of kids has the fan base so excited that even a game like today was thought to be a realistic shot for a win. So much so folks are a bit bummed when they lost. That’s an indication of just how good the young frosh and JC and staff are. Games like this will help this team win games like this in the future

Agree. But anyone who is expecting more than 3, 4 at most, more ACC wins (not including any potential ACC tourney win) may be sorely disappointed.

I just want consistent effort. A never quit mentality. I think we are seeing that. Remember our best players are three freshman. My fear is they peter out.

The schedule makers gave Pitt the hardest opening 7 games in the ACC by far.
We are ahead of schedule on the rebuild.
Hoping this insane schedule helps them in the final 11. I predict 4 or 5 more wins with a 80% guarantee.

The remaining 11 games for Pitt are Clemson twice home and away,Syracuse,NC State, Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame at home. And road games at Wake, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Miami and Virginia. I still think they can win at least 5 of those 11 games listed there at least and finish 7-11 overall in conference and 17 wins which would most definitely put us in a great spot to at least qualify for the NIT. I still do think that the NCCA tournament bubble is also a possibility. Pitt’s next 5 games are at Clemson, Syracuse at home, at Wake Forest, NC State at home and at Boston College. I defintely think 3-2 in that stretch is possible which would put them at 5-7 overall in conference and 15-10 overall and would at least give them an NCCA tournament pulse heading into the final 6 games of their schedule which would be home games with Virginia Tech, Clemson, and Notre Dame and road games at Georgia Tech, Miami and Virginia. So a lot of basketball still left to be played so let’s see how things play out.

Thinking that Pitt is superior to these teams right now is a mistake . Every win they get will be hard fought .
Your are absolutely correct as Pitt may have a 50 50 shot in some of those remaining ACC games at best. With the formula to defense Pitt well in hand for all the ACC coaches to see none of the remaining games will be easy.

Right now we need to beat Clemson.......I'm trying to keep post season dreams alive even if it's irrational, but the truth is we got ours butt kicked 3 games in a row......

Agree with above we need 3 wins in the next 5 games......otherwise it becomes about just hoping for improving for next year

Possible but not likely, IMHO. A more likely result is 1-4 winning either at Wake Forest or at Boston College; but probably not both. We should be really pleased if it is 2-3 no matter where 2 wins come from.

During the last 6 games to follow, IMHO we should be happy if we go 2-4 with Clemson and Notre Dame at the Pete the most likely wins. I just don't see any road wins there and don't think we can beat Virginia Tech even at the Pete after seeing them 3-ball Syracuse to death last night.

If they do the above and finish the ACC regular season at 5-13 or 6-12 we should all be very pleased as this team, with such a weak front-court and subpar 3-point shooting, will have preformed better than all the pre-season experts had predicted. I know I will be happy with such a result because it will be the result of excellent coaching and grit and determination and a never give-up attitude by the entire team. We cannot really be disappointed if they do not do better than this because they will have achieved all they could given the roster.

If they finish out in ACC with a "5-13 or "6-12" record, Capel should be named
ACC coach of the year, and yes, "we should all be very pleased."
This team has already surpassed what most experts predicted. Personally I'll be
pleased regardless of the number of wins as long as they keep fighting, stay
aggressive, and continue to show improvement.

I agree - based on what we have seen, an NCAA bid is a possibility. However I don't agree that 7 wins should be an "expectation". I would no at all be surprised with a 4-14 season, there are gigantic holes to coach around.

5 ACC wins is a good season for this group of players. Any more and you have to seriously consider Capel for ACC Coach Of The Year. Which could very well happen.

I am expecting more and we will likely get more. However, if we don't, I am not one who is going to fly off the handle and give up the faith.

i will not give up faith either. We have three players (the freshmen) that remind me of the players we used to have. I expect we will get more.

But, if everyone keeps playing zone against us, we keep giving up offensive rebounds, don't win the turnover battle and either don't take or hit open shots....

Johnson never even looks for a jump shot anymore.

With the last 2 games of the season being winnable, we really just need 2 more wins until then to have our NIT hopes still alive. We could be 4-12, win the last 2 + Tuesday in ACCT and grab an NIT bid. I'd sign up for that.
